Houk

The Houks were a race of incredibly strong humanoid species possessing sentience. A defining characteristic was their very large forearms, which contributed to their ability to develop significant muscle mass.

Biology and appearance

The Houk were a sentient species of humanoid beings, easily identified by their substantial muscularity and sizable arms, each concluding in a hand with four fingers. Their eyes were small and deeply embedded within their robust skull, which featured prominent bone ridges.

History

The Houk people engaged in several wars with the Weequay species. A notable brawl between members of the two races broke out during the time of the Separatist Crisis.

Houks in the galaxy

A Houk

Their imposing physical strength led to many Houk prisoners being used as laborers within the spice mines located on Kessel.

Some Houks pursued careers as gladiators. In the early years of the Galactic Empire's reign, Borbig Drob achieved champion status at the Stormblade Bloodfest nine times. He later participated in the Gladiator Night event on the planet Lothal, where he initially fought against the Feeorin gladiator Warjak, but was ultimately defeated by the Trandoshan bounty hunter Bossk. During the [Galactic Civil War](/article/galactic_civil_war], another Houk teamed up with a Red Nikto and a Trandoshan. They faced a lone Wookiee, Krrsantan, in a fighting pit, where the Houk and his allies met their demise.

Around 5 ABY, two Houk siblings, Jorgatha and Gorgeous Su, served together within the New Republic's 61st Mobile Infantry stationed on the planet Troithe.

Behind the scenes

Borbig Drob

The Houk species was originally conceived for the Star Wars Legends book Han Solo and the Lost Legacy, penned by Brian Daley and published in 1980. While Daley's novel now belongs to the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Houk were brought into current canon through the 2014 junior novel Ezra's Gamble by Ryder Windham.
