Jorgatha

Jorgatha, a male Houk, served as a soldier within the 61st Mobile Infantry of the New Republic. In approximately 5 ABY, during the campaign fought in the Cerberon system, he and several other members of the 61st sought refuge in a garage. This occurred after the Galactic Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing forced their squads to retreat from their positions on Troithe, a planet. While there, Jorgatha was present at a meeting led by Sergeant Carver, where they aimed to formulate a strategy for their assembled personnel.

The group then decided to journey to the Scar of Troithe, a continent located on the planet's opposite side, using a network of underground tunnels as their route. Upon reaching the Scar, Jorgatha participated in another meeting organized by Carver. During this meeting, they developed plans for an attack on the 204th at the Core Nine mining megafacility, contemplating the viability of a direct assault. The subsequent attack against the 240th proved successful, compelling the fighter wing to withdraw from the Cerberon system.

Biography

Regrouping

During the Galactic Civil War, Jorgatha and his sister, Gorgeous Su, both served as soldiers in the 61st Mobile Infantry, which was a company within the New Republic's army. Circa 5 ABY, the 61st took part in the campaign unfolding in the Cerberon system, integrated within General Hera Syndulla's battle group. During this campaign, the battle group's fleet orbiting the planet Troithe suffered a devastating defeat at the hands of the Galactic Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing. This defeat forced the 61st's squads to abandon their positions on the planet's surface. Jorgatha met up with approximately fifty other members of the 61st and around twenty local insurgents at a speeder garage located in the Highgarden District, a sparsely urbanized area of Troithe.

With the 61st's captain, Hazram Namir, and half of the company being stranded off-world, Sergeant Carver convened a meeting at the garage with Jorgatha and other senior members of the 61st, as well as two New Republic pilots, to deliberate on their current predicament. Despite some objections, the sergeant assumed leadership of the group present at the garage. The attendees then discussed and debated the group's plan of action. After Carver raised concerns about the potential arrival of Imperial reinforcements if the New Republic personnel waited too long, Jorgatha, who was positioned in one of the room's corners, adjusted his position and attempted to speak. However, he was interrupted by Junior, an elderly human, who introduced the possibility of traveling to the Scar of Troithe, a desolate and heavily mined continent situated on the planet's far side.

On the move

Following the meeting, the New Republic group, including Jorgatha, journeyed from the Highgarden District towards the Scar of Troithe. Despite encountering attacks from Imperial aligned forces at the edge of the Highgarden District, the New Republic forces instead moved into a network of underground tunnels that could lead them all the way to their destination in a caravan of repulsorcraft. During the journey, the 204th's Squadron Three pursued the New Republic convoy, killing Gorgeous Su during one of their attacks. After the caravan reached the Scar of Troithe, the New Republic forces sought refuge within a ravine.

Carver conducted another meeting with the senior members of the 61st and the two pilots to address the 204th's presence at the Core Nine mining megafacility, which was situated nearby. During the meeting, Jorgatha and Carver outlined their own strategies for assaulting Core Nine, sketching them in the dust of the ravine where they were gathered. The pair also argued about whether a direct assault on the facility would be too late. After the 204th's forces began moving towards Core Nine, the New Republic group initiated an attack on the facility. The battle resulted in a victory, due in part to New Republic reinforcements, leading to the 204th's retreat from Troithe during the battle.

Personality and traits

Jorgatha, a male Houk, possessed a large physique and a prominent jaw. Adorned with bones, he made a quiet impression on Wyl Lark, a New Republic pilot. Upon Carver's prediction of potential Imperial reinforcements, Jorgatha scowled at him and attempted to speak. He also engaged in a debate with the sergeant at the Scar of Troithe, questioning whether their group could execute a direct assault on the Core Nine facility.

Behind the scenes

Jorgatha made an appearance in Shadow Fall, a 2020 novel authored by Alexander Freed.
