The Cerberon system, a star system located within the Deep Core, had the Cerberon singularity, a black hole, at its center. Within this system were multiple planets, encompassing Troithe, an urban planet that, for centuries prior to the Imperial Era, posed a challenge to Coruscant, the Galactic Republic's capital; Catadra, a world characterized by a multitude of religious sects and in orbit around which was the moon Narthex; in addition to the rocky and atmosphere-lacking Verzan. A debris field, including asteroids like CER952B and a desert planetoid, also circled the Cerberon singularity.
The novel Shadow Fall, penned by Alexander Freed, and released in 2020, featured the Cerberon system. Freed expressed interest in setting a significant portion of the novel within the Cerberon system, driven by his perception that Star Wars narratives frequently traversed locations too rapidly, hindering the development of local cultures and histories.
