Troops of the New Republic, also referenced as New Republic Troopers or Republic troops, comprised the fighting force of the New Republic's Defense Force. Soon following the Battle of Endor, Republic soldiers engaged in combat upon the world of Uyter. A key engagement for Republic soldiers was the Battle of Jakku, a significant conflict that brought the Galactic Civil War to a close with a New Republic victory, subsequently leading to the signing of the Galactic Concordance. As of 9 ABY, New Republic soldiers were tasked with supervising prisoner conveyance aboard New Republic Correctional Transports, which were under the watch of security droids. Penn Pershing was apprehended by New Republic Troopers after he removed laboratory equipment from the Shipyard Depot. Twenty-four years following the conflict at Endor, they were deployed as guards at the New Republic senatorial complex located on Hosnian Prime.
New Republic soldiers could be assigned to infantry formations, for example, the Thirty-first, 61st Mobile Infantry, or the Third Recon Group.

During the time of the Galactic Civil War, the uniforms of New Republic soldiers were composed of basic vests along with utility belts. They were armed with both blaster rifles in addition to pistols. During the New Republic Era, one version of their uniform consisted of a blue tunic displaying a New Republic emblem on the left shoulder, paired with blue pants, white footwear, a white belt and holster, and a white helmet featuring a black tinted visor; this was the same style of helmet as worn by the Alderaanian consular security. Approximately twenty-four years following the Battle of Endor, New Republic soldiers who were stationed at the Galactic Senate on Hosnian Prime wore jackets and pants that were not intended to intimidate. They also wore helmets held in place by a simple leather strap.
