Battle in Central City

A few months following the Battle of Endor, a conflict erupted on [Uyter](/article/uyter], specifically in Central City, pitting the forces of the Galactic Empire against the emerging New Republic. During this engagement, the Imperial stormtrooper academy located on Uyter was obliterated. Consequently, the young Pade, now without a place to call home, chose to sign up at the New Republic's New Academy on Chandrila.

Prelude

During the [Imperial Era](/article/imperial_era], the Galactic Empire maintained a training facility, an Imperial Academy, in Central City on the planet Uyter, dedicated to the instruction of stormtroopers. This institution was part of an extensive network of Imperial Academies established across the galaxy by the Empire to develop officers and soldiers for its expansive Imperial Military.

The battle

In the wake of the Battle of Endor, the New Republic initiated a renewed campaign against the Galactic Empire, which was reeling from the loss of its leader, Emperor Palpatine, aboard the second Death Star. This conflict engulfed the planet Uyter, dragging it into the broader Galactic Civil War. New Republic soldiers launched an assault on the Uyter stormtrooper academy, ultimately forcing its closure. These soldiers received assistance from local farmhands, who were armed with makeshift weapons like pitchforks, spanners, and other heavy tools. At least a dozen stormtroopers perished during the fighting.

Aftermath

In the aftermath of the battle, the boy Pade, along with several other adolescents, persuaded a Nimbanel hoverbus driver to transport them to the Imperial Academy with the intention of enlisting, unaware that New Republic forces had already seized and closed the facility. Pade, having been abandoned by his parents, had nowhere else to turn. A New Republic soldier with a beard encountered the driver at the bus stop and instructed him to return the youths to their respective families.

Pade then explained his situation to the New Republic soldier and inquired whether he intended to execute the potential recruits. The soldier reassured him that the New Republic did not execute young cadets. Moved by Pade's circumstances, the soldier arranged for the bus driver to transport the older youths to Riverbreaker, where a shuttle was waiting to transport prospective recruits to the New Academy in Hanna City on Chandrila. In gratitude, Pade thanked the soldier and wished him "May the Force be with you."
