The furred quadrupedal creatures called Howlers originated from the planet Peridea, and were native to that extragalactic location. These creatures could be domesticated and ridden, obeying commands as shown by Enoch and Sabine Wren, who used the verbal command "tota" to make one such creature sit.
A group of bandits living on Peridea also utilized Howlers as mounts. During an attack on Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger, and a band of Noti nomads, these bandits rode Howlers into combat.
It appeared that Howlers showed strong loyalty, as seen when one refused to leave Sabine Wren alone, even when she scolded it and told it to go away. They also showed signs of aggression and became agitated when around beings they were unfamiliar with. This behavior caused fear in the Noti species, who shared a homeworld with the howlers. They craved connection and sought validation from the creature they viewed as their leader.
