The Hweg Shul municipal police force served as the primary law enforcement agency within the bounds of Hweg Shul, which was the capital city located on the planet of Nam Chorios.
During 13 ABY, the Hweg Shul police department was called to address a public disorder. This incident involved a furious crowd of indigenous Oldtimers who, at the urging of the disgraced Jedi Knight named Taselda, were attempting to assault Luke Skywalker. Although no formal charges were filed, the Oldtimers accused Skywalker of being "the evil one." However, Newcomer police officers Grupp and Snaplaunce successfully calmed the situation.
Sometime around 44 ABY, officer Snaplaunce had concluded his long career in law enforcement and was now serving as the mayor of Hweg Shul. He remembered his prior interaction with Skywalker and was enthusiastic to offer aid to the Jedi. The Hweg Shul municipal police were still functioning, and guards were stationed in the Newcomer sections of the city after the body of Doctor Cagaran Wei was discovered and Snaplaunce was attacked. Initially, the police were searching for Skywalker's group in connection to these crimes, but it was eventually determined that the dark side being referred to as Abeloth was actually responsible.
