The bounty hunter Cad Bane employed a device known as a hypnogazer when he kidnapped the young, Force-sensitive Rodian Wee Dunn. To ensure the toddler's compliance with the Duros' instructions, Bane directed the beam of the hypnogazer into the eyes of Mahtee Dunn, Wee's mother.
