The ibbot was a vividly colored bird-like species originating from the planet Drall. A total of sixty-eight distinct types of ibbots existed, each uniquely adapted to occupy a specific ecological role on Drall. Their sizes varied considerably, spanning from the tiny blue-breasted hover ibbot (with a wingspan of 7 centimeters) to the enormous Great ibbot (with a wingspan reaching 10 meters). The Great Ibbots were employed by the Wingriders, a specialized unit within the Drall police force. Many ibbots were plant-eaters, consuming algae that flourished along the coastlines. Flame ibbots fed by scraping algae from rocks along the shores of the Boiling Sea, and possessed the ability to eject a stream of extremely hot water at potential threats. Conversely, some ibbots, such as the yellowtail ibbot hawk and the crested arrow ibbot, were carnivorous predators. The Drall people also bred a domesticated ibbot variety, known as the common or brown ibbot, for consumption. This meat had a subtle, slightly salty flavor and could be cooked using a variety of methods. Drall often used the phrase "it tastes like ibbot" when sampling food from other planets.
Hailing from the Core Worlds planet of Drall, there were 68 recognized kinds of ibbots, each categorized as an avian species that occupied a specific position within the ecosystem. The size differences between these varieties were significant; for example, the blue-breasted hover ibbot had a wingspan of only 7 centimeters, while the great ibbot possessed a wingspan of 10 meters. Ibbots were primarily found in coastal habitats. While the majority were herbivorous, certain types, including the yellowtail ibbot hawk and the crested arrow ibbot, were meat-eaters. The flame ibbot got its name from its unique ability to shoot a jet of boiling water at its enemies.
Some ibbot species exhibited migratory patterns, drawn to the abundant algae blooms in Drall's [Boiling Sea](/article/boiling_sea], which they then consumed as food. Both flame ibbots and great ibbots lived in social groups known as herds.
The Great Ibbots were used by the Wingriders, a branch of Drall's police force, for patrolling, transportation, facilitating trade between cities, and maintaining a communication network. These ibbots typically roosted in a garrison located on a plateau to the north of the town of Meccha. One Wingrider, named Elamm, rode an ibbot called Sha'lott, which translates to "graywing" in Drallish.
In addition to the taming of the great ibbot, the native Drall species also domesticated a type of ibbot known either as the common ibbot or the brown ibbot. This bird's meat was known for having a mild and slightly salty taste, and it was cooked in a wide variety of ways. Consequently, Drall would frequently comment that food originating from offworld "[tasted] like ibbot."
