Idellian Arrays functioned as a manufacturer of scanners in the initial years that the Galactic Empire was in power. Within the Sentinel Base facility, the Empire utilized scanners produced by Idellian. During a rebel cell's attack on the base, where they employed a warship assembled from aged Confederacy of Independent Systems starships, the scanner detected a total of thirty lifeforms present on the attacking vessel. Subsequently, an Imperial technician communicated the scanner's discoveries to Governor Wilhuff Tarkin, the commander of the base.
The company Idellian was initially conceived as Idellian Arrays in 1995 for Galladinium's Fantastic Technology, which was a Star Wars Legends sourcebook for the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games. It subsequently entered into canon, shortened to just Idellian, in the 2014 novel Tarkin written by James Luceno.
