During the time of the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire maintained a facility on the world of Vetine, situated within the Merrick sector. Within this facility was a research laboratory, accessible exclusively by the Emperor, also known as Darth Sidious, along with the facility's commanding officer, Commandant [Hurron]. This laboratory housed the last two pieces of a Great Tree, which Sidious had pilfered from the Jedi Temple following his declaration as Emperor. Subsequent to the Emperor's demise, Luke Skywalker together with Shara Bey penetrated the facility and successfully retrieved the fragments of the tree.
