Chain code posts, otherwise known as Imperial Informational Stations, were structures employed by the Galactic Empire in the period immediately following its formation. These posts, adorned with the Imperial crest and painted white, were situated on Outer Rim planets like Saleucami and Pantora. Staffed by Imperial troopers, these stations served as security checkpoints at public spaceports, and they also provided a location where Imperial citizens could register to obtain identifying chain codes. Within the stations, holoprojectors were present; during the early Imperial Era, these devices played a hologram recording featuring Vice Admiral Rampart, who detailed the advantages of registering for chain codes, including the ability to trade obsolete Galactic Republic currency for the newly issued Imperial credits.
