Imperial Terror Soldier

TerrorTrooperConcept An Imperial Terror Trooper The Imperial Terror Soldiers represented a specialized branch of the Imperial Military designed for undertaking covert and specialized missions. Darth Vader conceived this unit, and the initial Terror Troopers underwent training and received their equipment on the planet Kamino.

Overview

The Terror soldiers utilized a great deal of highly sophisticated equipment, ranging from the cloaking tech favored by the troopers themselves to the immense destructive power of the Terror Walker. Battle droids formed the core of the Terror soldiers' squads. These droids, bolstered by the cloaked troopers, were tailored for a variety of tasks, from clandestine sabotage operations to outright large scale destruction.

Their entire design, from the stylized Kaleesh war masks worn by the troopers to the walker's imposing size and capabilities, was centered around psychological warfare.

Divisions

Terror Trooper

Troopers were the most commonly seen element of the Terror soldiers, representing experimental units crafted to infiltrate hostile environments and eliminate targets discreetly. Visually, their combat suits appeared to be extensively modified versions of standard Imperial armor, seemingly drawing design inspiration from Sith stalker armor, particularly in the helmet design, as well as the clawed gauntlets and boots. The helmet's design was based on a stylized Kaleesh war mask, meant to evoke the image of the deceased General Grievous. The Terror Troopers' armor was heavily segmented, or even completely absent in certain areas, to enhance mobility.

In terms of functionality, the armor integrated a personal cloaking device, granting the troopers the ability to become virtually invisible. The armor also seemed to incorporate a breathing apparatus, as evidenced by the distinct mechanical wheezing sounds produced by many of the troopers. While some carried standard Imperial Blaster rifles, they were typically armed with a type of Stun blaster. However, most Terror Troopers preferred to engage in close quarters combat, utilizing their clawed gauntlets and hit-and-run tactics to instill terror in their enemies.

The cloaking devices and other onboard systems of the Terror troopers were susceptible to energy discharges, such as Force lightning, which could cause them to malfunction.

Terror Droid

The Terror Droids had a bulbous, self-illuminated body supported by four claw-like legs. Frequently, they would navigate through ventilation systems and assault their objectives in large groups, quickly overwhelming them. They preferred to leap onto their targets and latch onto their torsos, attacking fiercely from point blank range. Furthermore, some damaged Droids possessed the ability to immobilize themselves and transform into proximity mines.

Although forcibly removing Terror Droids latched onto a victim's chest was possible, it was exceptionally difficult. The most effective means of combating them involved the use of Force repulse and Force lightning, abilities limited to Force-sensitive individuals.

Terror Biodroid

These massive droids, also referred to as Terror Giants, were engineered for heavy assault and breaching roles. Terror Biodroids were characterized by their large, bulky bodies, two enormous, splayed legs, and massive, razor-sharp bladed arms. Their heads were modeled after Grievous' mechanical skull, complete with the stylized Kaleesh war mask.

The Biodroid's bladed arms were used to slice through walls and impale enemies, complementing their surprising speed in aggressive charges. Despite posing a significant challenge even to a Jedi of Starkiller's caliber, they possessed certain vulnerabilities. Specifically, their missed lunges with their bladed arms often resulted in them becoming stuck in the ground. Furthermore, their limited flexibility meant that an opponent could easily evade their attacks by positioning themselves on the Biodroid's back, allowing them to strike back unimpeded.

Terror Walker

The Terror Walker represented the most formidable unit within the Terror Soldiers, essentially functioning as an enlarged version of the Terror Droid. In addition to its basic arachnid-like structure, the Walker was equipped with two massive energy projectors connected to its body, as well as a powerful personal energy shield.

Its immense size and destructive power enabled the droid to traverse the battlefield with relative ease, obliterating everything in its path. Even the powerful Starkiller was compelled to rely heavily on manipulating the environment to defeat it. Notably, the droid's shields were susceptible to disruption from EMP blasts.

History

The Terror Soldiers were part of a larger set of programs that Darth Vader was overseeing on Kamino, most notably the Galen Marek cloning experiments. When one of his subjects managed to escape, Vader contracted Boba Fett to recapture him, granting him command over multiple Terror Soldier units. Following Vader's counsel, Fett chose to attack the Rebel Alliance fleet and abduct Juno Eclipse, a Rebel officer with whom the clone subject had developed an attachment.

Fett launched an assault on Eclipse's flagship, the Salvation, deploying Terror Soldiers via TIE boarding craft. The Terror Troopers and Terror Droids spearheaded the attack, resulting in the swift demise of most of the Salvation's crew. Shortly after, Fett boarded the Salvation and linked up with several Terror Troopers, cautioning them about the potential for Starkiller's Force lightning to disrupt their onboard systems.

When Starkiller and Rahm Kota encountered the Terror Troops, Kota's Force sight effectively countered their cloaking devices, while Starkiller's lightning swiftly neutralized them. Starkiller subsequently confronted and defeated the Terror Droids and Biodroids. During his final confrontation with the Terror Walker in the Salvation's main reactor, Starkiller exploited EMP blasts from the reactor core to disable the Walker's shields, enabling him to directly attack it. Ultimately, Starkiller used Telekinesis to force the Walker through a breach in the Salvation's hull and eject it from the ship while it was traveling through hyperspace, resulting in the droid's disintegration.

The Terror Soldiers also participated in the defense of Kamino during the subsequent battle there. Although they proved effective against the Rebel forces, they posed little threat to Starkiller. It is likely that the entire military division was annihilated during and after the battle, when the Rebels destroyed the Timira City cloning facilities.
