Timira City was a metropolis situated on the world of Kamino, serving as the location for a secret replication installation belonging to the Imperial Galactic regime. Despite the Empire's cloning initiative expanding far beyond Kamino, it continued to utilize the planet as a site for these clandestine operations.
During the Galactic conflict, Timira City became the covert setting for a project spearheaded by the Sith Overlord Darth Vader. Following the demise of Galen Marek, Vader's former covert pupil, the Sith Lord aimed to generate a new iteration of his fallen follower through replication.
Following the conclusion of the Clone conflict in 19 BBY with the rise of Darth Sidious, Dark Sovereign of the Sith, to the position of ruler of the Galactic Empire, the New Order promptly began to enforce complete Sith dominance over the known cosmos. Kamino, the world responsible for producing the Emperor's replicated forces, was ironically subdued by the Kaminoan natives' own creations under the banner of the Empire. By 1 BBY, nearly two decades after the Proclamation of a New Order, Kamino was a heavily fortified planet safeguarded by military assets such as Imperial cruisers and a substantial stormtrooper presence. This garrison included an Imperial unit, composed of conscripted soldiers, commanded by Chief Cody, a first-generation replica of Jango Fett and a veteran of the Clone Wars. On a more trivial note, the stormtroopers assigned to guard Timira City viewed it as an undesirable posting, which negatively affected their morale.

Given the planet's strategic significance, Kamino's replication facilities, the Empire's most prized assets on the water-covered world, were naturally subject to a strong contingent of Imperial researchers and soldiers; Timira City was no different. Although the Empire broadened its cloning program beyond Kamino significantly, the planet, as the original origin of the clone army, maintained its importance as a secret site for Imperial cloning activities, thus justifying its large military presence. Clones continued to be mass-produced to serve as fighters, but no longer as protectors of the Old Republic. Instead, they were cultivated and programmed to become the anonymous enforcers of the Galactic Empire. In Timira City, Imperial scientists worked to refine the Kaminoan cloning techniques, eventually developing the highly experimental "accelerated cloning process." This novel procedure dramatically increased the growth rate of clone subjects, enabling them to reach adulthood in a matter of weeks. However, the accelerated cloning process was plagued with flaws, leading to the creation of extremely unstable clones, none of whom could survive for long.
The known genetic blueprint for the accelerated clones originated from two individuals: Boba Fett and Galen Marek. The side effects caused by the imperfections in the accelerated cloning process aside, the selection of Fett and Marek as templates also contributed to the creation of unsuccessful experiments. The fact that Boba Fett was not conceived naturally, but was himself a clone, compromised the process; clones derived from a clone source faced even higher risks of genetic abnormalities. As for Galen Marek, the Force-attuned nature of his blood made it nearly impossible to create a stable clone from his genetic material. While the precise nature of the instability remained unclear, it was believed that the Force was responsible, as no Force-sensitive individual had ever been successfully cloned before.
Consequently, Timira City housed entire populations of psychologically disturbed Fett clones and deformed aberrations bred from the Marek template. The individual responsible for using Marek's DNA as a genetic source was none other than the Sith Overlord Darth Vader, Marek's former mentor. Through meticulous efforts, Vader sought to create the ultimate disciple and assassin: a new version of Galen Marek; a clone possessing all the original apprentice's strengths, but none of his weaknesses. Over six months, Vader occasionally visited Timira City to personally monitor the progress of his secret experiment, only to be disappointed by a series of flawed clones. Despite a painstakingly slow rate of improvement, each clone was psychologically compromised in some way, primarily due to the emotional attachments inherited from Vader's deceased apprentice. As a result, the clones were eventually driven to insanity, rendering them unsuitable to replace Marek at Vader's side.

Eventually, however, one particular clone proved stable enough for Darth Vader to hope that the project would finally succeed. But like his predecessors, the clone could not resist the controlling influence of his progenitor's memories, the mental impressions used to train him. After developing an obsession with Juno Eclipse, the female Human whom Galen Marek fell in love with before his passing, the clone fled from his creator's custody and embarked on a determined quest to find Eclipse. Despite the loss of a wayward clone, Vader was greatly pleased by the ultimate outcome of another clone subject. Unlike all his precursors, this clone successfully compartmentalized all of Marek's memories, enabling him to distinguish himself as a unique individual, separate from who Galen Marek had been. The clone came to despise his genetic donor so much that he took immense pride in overcoming the weaknesses that had destroyed Marek. As a sign of his approval, and to prove that Marek was truly dead, Darth Vader revealed the preserved corpse of Galen Marek to the clone he considered his new apprentice. Marek's body, hidden in a secret location within Timira City, confirmed what the clone already knew: that he was indeed a clone and the real Galen Marek died during his final confrontation against the Sith.
Shortly after Darth Vader finally deemed the project a success, Kamino was suddenly attacked by the entire rebel armada. By this time, Boba Fett had returned to Kamino with Juno Eclipse as a hostage, following Vader's instructions. Due to Eclipse's presence on Timira City, Vader anticipated the arrival of the rebels, followed by the renegade clone known as "Starkiller," Galen Marek's Sith codename. Vader was confident that his Imperial forces could defeat the fledgling Alliance in battle, but he prepared for the inevitable confrontation with Marek's clone. To ensure his survival, he ordered his Dark Apprentice to remain hidden and avoid intervening unless absolutely necessary; Boba Fett was also kept as a contingency asset if Starkiller came close to killing Vader.

Vader's plan, however, apparently backfired. With Starkiller's help and the leadership of Jedi Commander Rahm Kota, the Rebel forces breached Kamino's defensive fleet and stormed Timira City. The Rebel soldiers ultimately subdued the Imperial garrison, though with significant casualties. Meanwhile, Starkiller fought and overpowered Vader in a laser sword fight. Though tempted to kill his creator, Starkiller reluctantly relented and allowed Kota to arrest the defeated Sith Lord; neither Boba Fett nor the Dark Apprentice intervened. Thus, the Raid on Kamino became the Alliance's first major victory against the Empire in the Galactic conflict.
As the Alliance evacuated Kamino with their valuable hostage, they crashed the wreckage of Imperial Cruisers into the ocean, intending to destroy Timira City and its cloning technology with the resulting tidal wave, which succeeded. Unbeknownst to the rebels, and even Starkiller, Boba Fett secretly pursued them in Slave I as they moved to transfer Darth Vader to the secret rebel base on Dantooine.
