Inferno (Vilmarh Grahrk)

The custom-built personal starship, known as the Inferno, was the prized possession of Vilmarh Grahrk, a Devaronian smuggler.

Description

Classified as a "Villie Special" Big Wing, the Inferno's design bore a striking resemblance to a rust-hued gackle bat. Its features included a slender cockpit situated towards the rear, nestled between elongated wings, each housing a streamlined ion engine at its core. The starship's streamlined structure made it a difficult target to hit.

Reflecting its role as a smuggler's transport, all weaponry was designed to retract, minimizing its visible profile. Concealed within each wing were three laser cannons, totaling six, complemented by an ion cannon mounted on the ship's underside. While these provided some offensive capabilities, Villie primarily relied on the Inferno's exceptional speed, agility, and robust deflector shields to avoid capture. The vessel's hyperdrive system, once considered cutting-edge before the Invasion of Naboo in 32 BBY, suffered a decline in performance following an incident involving three pit droids, much to Villie's frustration, necessitating frequent repairs.

Further enhancing its capabilities, the Inferno boasted a powerful full-color holoprojector, enabling Vilmarh to transmit and receive communications across vast distances. A tractor beam projector allowed Villie to seize small cargo containers, starship sections, and other spaceborne debris. Furthermore, the Inferno was equipped with an escape pod.

NT 600

A crucial element of the Inferno was the astronavigation droid, designated NT 600, affectionately nicknamed NT by Villie. This droid was directly integrated into the starship's systems, serving as Grahrk's co-pilot during flight operations and offering continuous support.

The droid's programming included a comprehensive ethical framework, potentially making it the ship's most unique attribute. It acted as the conscience for the unscrupulous Villie, much to the Devaronian's irritation. He had repeatedly attempted to disable NT's ethical circuits over the years, but failed due to his inability to locate them.

NT also managed a compact probe droid utilized for inspecting the Inferno, scanning passengers and cargo, and discreetly monitoring Villie's activities. This probe droid could also operate independently of the vessel, albeit within a limited range.

Operational history

Throughout its operational history, the Inferno, piloted by Villie and assisted by NT, was involved in numerous adventures across the galaxy. These included aiding Jedi Master Quinlan Vos in recovering lost memories and escorting Princess Foolookoola and her aide Naradan D'ulin to Dur Sabon.

The starship also participated in the Battle of Kashyyyk, during which Grahrk's Wookiee companion, Chak, served as co-pilot. During this engagement, the Inferno was shot down by a droid gunship.
