Jarid DeBell was a male Human Jedi Knight who dedicated his service to the Jedi Order throughout the closing decades of the Galactic Republic. After a period as a Knight, DeBell relinquished his lightsaber, retired from his position, and became an advisor in the Republic's governing body. He collaborated with Senator Lavina Durada-Vashne Wren representing the Cularin system within the Galactic Senate. Their relationship deepened, leading to marriage and the birth of their daughter, Night Forael Wren.
Upon the discovery of his Force-sensitive nature during his youth, Jarid DeBell's training diverged from the norm; he was not educated at the Coruscant Jedi Temple, unlike most Initiates of the Order. Instead, DeBell was stationed at the experimental academy located on Almas, under the guidance of headmaster Jedi Master Lanius Qel-Bertuk. Within the Cularin system, DeBell's instruction began at the academy and continued through an apprenticeship with a Master. After successfully completing his Trials of Knighthood, DeBell was recognized as a Jedi Knight and received assignments from the Almas Council.
After serving as a Jedi Knight for some time, DeBell ultimately decided that the Jedi way of life was not his true calling. He surrendered his lightsaber and robes to Master Qel-Bertuk, departed from the Order, and journeyed to Coruscant, where he took on the role of an envoy and advisor within the Galactic Senate. Employed by the newly elected Senator Lavina Durada-Vashne Wren representing the Cularin system, DeBell undertook diplomatic missions across the galaxy, including ventures into Hutt Space that incurred the animosity of the Hutts. Following the Trade Federation's invasion of Naboo, the Senate tasked DeBell with serving as an investigative envoy to the democratic monarchy as the government regained control of the planet.
As the years passed, the professional relationship between Envoy DeBell and Senator Wren deepened, and they eventually decided to marry. Prior to the ceremony, DeBell celebrated with a bachelor party, indulging in generous amounts of Ithorian brandy and Rodian ale. During the wedding, Melo Centris, an assassin hired by the Hutts, attempted to assassinate DeBell with a poisoned cake. Fortunately, the Heroes of Cularin intervened and thwarted the attempt. Surviving the assassination attempt, DeBell and Wren married and later welcomed a daughter, named Night Forael Wren.
