Born in El Puerto de Santa María, Spain on August 17, Javier Garrón's initial foray into Star Wars was a variant cover for the sixth issue of the 2021 series Star Wars: The High Republic. This cover showcased the Jedi bond-twins, Terec and Ceret. He collaborated with comic colorist Marte Gracia on this illustration. Garrón expressed in an interview with StarWars.com that illustrating these two characters was a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity". On March 31, 2021, in recognition of International Transgender Day of Visibility, Garrón officially unveiled the cover via Twitter. It was subsequently published on June 30 of that year.
In 2022, Garrón created a second variant cover alongside colorist Jesus Aburtov, this time for the fourth issue of the comic series Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca. This cover, published on July 20 of that year, depicted Jedi Lula Talisola and Force-sensitive Zeen Mrala embracing. Garrón mentioned in an interview that he considered it a great honor and pleasure to illustrate Talisola and Mrala. The cover was created to portray a calm and intimate moment between the two characters, contrasting with the expansive galactic narratives they've been involved in.
