Terec

Terec, a Kotabi Jedi Knight who identified as trans non-binary, shared a unique connection with Ceret as their bond-twin. During the High Republic Era, both twins were stationed at the Starlight Beacon space station. The bond they shared allowed them to function with a shared mind, frequently finishing one another's sentences, regardless of their physical location.

Biography

Mystery in the Kazlin System

After Starlight Beacon received a garbled distress signal originating from the Kazlin system, Terec and Ceret accompanied Jedi Master Sskeer and Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis to investigate the system. They docked their T-1 shuttle with the remains of a destroyed ship and initiated a search for survivors. Upon discovering a gas that suggested a Nihil attack, they equipped rebreathers. The group divided, with Terec accompanying Master Sskeer and Trennis joining Ceret to search the flight deck. A lone Nihil attacker ambushed Terec and Sskeer, injuring Terec before Sskeer eliminated the threat. Sskeer uncovered grain, leading him to the planet Sedri Minor. Trennis tended to Terec's injuries as Jedi Master Marshal Avar Kriss and Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh arrived. Simultaneously, Sskeer and Ceret journeyed to Sedri Minor to find the grain's origin, but Ceret disappeared. Terec then collapsed, expressing that they could feel Ceret's pain. Rwoh supported Terec, while Kriss contacted Sskeer to find out what had occurred.

Darkness of the Drengir

Terec began to exhibit a strange condition, descending into a state of delirium and uncontrolled outbursts, uttering seemingly meaningless phrases. Ceret had fallen under the influence of the Drengir, a species of sentient, amorphous, plant-like lifeforms. Due to Terec's mental connection with Ceret, Terec also became subject to the Drengir's control. After Avar Kriss left Sskeer alone to watch over Terec, spores ejected from Terec's mouth and entered Sskeer, placing him under the Drengir's influence as well. Avar confronted the Drengir below the surface and managed to free Ceret, which in turn freed Terec. Later, when the Hutt Cartel arrived on Sedri Minor, Terec and Ceret fought together against them, declaring their wholeness restored.

Following the events on Sedri Minor, Terec aided the Jedi and their newfound allies, the Hutts, in the assault on Mulita against the Drengir and their leader, the Great Progenitor. While the assault proved successful, resulting in the Progenitor's defeat, the Valo Republic Fair suffered devastation at the hands of the Nihil marauders.

Shadow of the Nihil

Following the attack, Terec volunteered to infiltrate the Nihil alongside Trennis. Terec planned to use their connection with Ceret to provide the Jedi with updates on the Nihil's activities. However, their cover was blown, and to compound the problem, Nihil Tempest Runner Lourna Dee arrived to confront them. She unleashed the Great Leveler on Terec, which began to turn them to stone. Their bond with Ceret intervened, preventing their death and instead sending both Terec and Ceret into a hibernation trance.

Destruction of Starlight Beacon

Months later, during the Destruction of Starlight Beacon, Keeve Trennis prioritized rescuing Terec and Ceret from the station, where they remained in the healing chamber. Trennis attempted to move their hoverbeds from the station, but a breach threatened to pull her into space. Avar Kriss activated her unique ability to establish a network connecting all surviving Jedi on Starlight Beacon through the Force. Terec and Ceret connected to the network and awakened from their hibernation trance, using the Force to save Trennis. The three escaped the station in an escape pod, landing on the planet Eiram, where they reunited with Kriss.

Behind the scenes

Terec made their debut alongside Ceret in The High Republic (2021) 2. A Star Wars Instagram post for International Transgender Day of Visibility in 2021 clarified Terec's in-universe pronouns, confirming that both Terec and Ceret identify as trans non-binary. The post featured Javier Garrón's variant cover for The High Republic (2021) 6, one of the Pride Month variant covers for Marvel comic books released in June 2021, pairing LGBTQIA+ artists with LGBTQIA+ characters.
