Sedri Minor, a planet dedicated to farming of arable land, existed within the Sedri system. This system was part of the Periphery, itself located in the Outer Rim Territories. Around 244 BBY, during the period known as the High Republic Era, an independent colony was established on Sedri Minor. This colony cultivated Vratixian barley, an ingredient used in the production of the medical compound bacta. Following an attack by the Nihil on a Hutt starship transporting Vratixian barley originating from Sedri Minor, the Jedi Order launched an investigation into the planet.
The planet Sedri Minor was originally conceived for the Star Wars: The High Republic comic series, which was a component of the larger publishing project of the same name. Cavan Scott wrote the comic, Ario Anindito provided the pencils, and Marvel Comics handled publication. An article on StarWars.com, released on December 22, 2020, first referenced the planet, although without naming it, in the solicitation for the series' third issue. The name "Sedri" was revealed in the solicitation for the fourth issue, published on January 19, 2021. The first appearance of Sedri Minor, explicitly named, occurred with the publication of The High Republic (2021) 2 on February 3, 2021.
