Plot summary

Professor Murk Lundi, a historian with a keen interest in the Sith, piqued the attention of Qui-Gon Jinn and [Obi-Wan Kenobi](/article/obi-wan_kenobi-legends], leading them to follow him aboard a vessel bound for Lisal upon learning of his scholarly pursuits. En route, Lundi persuaded the ship's captain to alter course towards Nolar, asserting that Lisal was no longer his intended destination.

The two Jedi maintained their pursuit of the professor, only to be ambushed by a contingent of ruffians. Soon after, the Jedi located Lundi within a commercial establishment, where he expressed interest in acquiring a Nolarian 6000 drill. Upon being informed of the store's lack of inventory, Lundi dismissed his earlier interest, stating that timing was his primary concern.

The Jedi shadowed Lundi to Kodai, a planet steeped in rumors of harboring a Sith holocron. Shortly thereafter, they encountered Lundi, only to discover that the Sith holocron had descended further into the depths of the geyser it resided in. Lundi, now exhibiting signs of complete derangement, began to rant incoherently about being denied his opportunity to obtain the holocron.

Years elapsed, and Obi-Wan, now accompanied by Anakin Skywalker, received a directive to recover the Sith holocron from Kodai. Securing Lundi's cooperation, the Jedi embarked on their mission. Lundi directed them towards Norval. They eventually made contact with Omal, one of Lundi's former acolytes. They witnessed firsthand the detrimental effects of the holocron, observing how it had driven Omal to the brink of insanity, mirroring Lundi's own descent.

Returning to the geyser, the Jedi conducted a thorough search, only to discover that the holocron was missing and that Norval possessed it. Lundi revealed that numerous factions had pledged substantial rewards for the holocron's retrieval and that one of these parties had arranged a rendezvous with him at Ploo II. Sensing the veracity of Lundi's account, the Jedi set course for Ploo II.

Upon arrival at Ploo II, the Jedi encountered Norval's vessel. While Obi-Wan boarded the ship, Anakin remained behind to pilot their borrowed craft, safeguarding it from harm. Obi-Wan confronted Norval, who unveiled his self-made lightsaber. After a brief but intense confrontation, Obi-Wan subdued Norval, reclaimed the holocron, and evacuated the ship before its imminent destruction. Rejoining his ship, Obi-Wan arrived just in time to witness Lundi's passing. Anakin had released him from his confinement, asserting that he should not spend his final moments imprisoned.

Obi-Wan and Anakin arrived at the Jedi Temple and secured the holocron within a designated vault. The Jedi requested that Lundi receive medical attention.
