Publisher's summary

Prior to the events of the Phantom Menace, during the era of the Old Republic, the Jedi Council oversees the Jedi Knights, who serve as guardians of peace and upholders of justice across the galaxy. A fierce and savage conflict erupts, prompting council member Mace Windu to dispatch two Jedi, who are confronted with a novel and dangerous adversary: the deceitful Yinchorri. The mission ends in disaster, with only the mutilated remains of the Jedi returning. This leads Mace to the stark realization that he has significantly underestimated the threat posed by the volatile Yinchorri, who possess immunity to Jedi mind control techniques. Burdened by this critical error, the Council faces a daunting challenge: devising a strategy to combat a ruthless enemy, unafraid of the Jedi Knights, as they amass weaponry that threatens the stability of the Republic.
