Its primary function was to formally place the Jedi Order in control of the Grand Army of the Republic. As a result, Jedi Knights and Masters were officially bestowed with the title of Jedi General, while Jedi Padawans received the designation of Jedi Commander.
The enactment of this legislation resulted in a greater degree of engagement by both the Republic and Separatist forces in the conflict. The Galactic Republic's increased focus on military matters provoked a corresponding intensification of operations by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, leading to a surge in battles throughout the galaxy. Due to the increased presence of Jedi at the forefront of combat, certain Jedi began integrating armor with their traditional robes.
