Jedi Starfighter Corps

The Jedi Starfighter Corps functioned as a starfighter formation within the Jedi Order, comprised of elite Jedi aces.

History

Established by the Jedi Order as a means to fight the Sith, the corps experienced significant growth during the New Sith Wars in order to challenge the fleets belonging to the Brotherhood of Darkness. Flying Redshift starfighters throughout the conflict as a component of the Army of Light, the Army underwent dissolution as part of the Ruusan Reformation, and the Corps reverted to its smaller scale. Transitioning to the Savage Star fighters, the Corps maintained a considerably reduced fleet, and over time gradually retired a large portion of its armed spacecraft.

Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptors acted as a main starfighter of the Jedi Order throughout the Clone Wars' engagements.

Decades later, the Order modernized their Starfighter forces with the Delta-6 starfighter design. Deployed for reconnaissance missions, Master Clee Rhara suggested the construction of a new starfighter installation on Centax-2. However, Rhara's schemes were thwarted by Senator Vox Chun, who voiced opposition to the Order's initiative to re-militarize.

Nevertheless, this trend would not endure, as the Jedi Order procured a squadron of Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor during the Separatist Crisis to counteract the escalating violence present in the Outer Rim.

During the Clone Wars, the Starfighter Corps was integrated into the Grand Army of the Republic, eventually undergoing another upgrade, this time adopting the Eta-2 Actis-class interceptor. As the war concluded, the Galactic Empire dissolved the Jedi Order, hunting down and eliminating its members during the Great Jedi Purge.
