Jenny Cresswell is the name of the British actress who played the character Jenny, a woman being flirted with by Han Solo (played by Harrison Ford) in a scene that was ultimately cut from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. John Mollo identified her as one of the "local girls" appearing in A New Hope, a detail that is documented in the 1979 publication The Art of Star Wars.
Cresswell secured the role after attending an audition set up by her agent; her selection was based on her photographs, and it was Harrison Ford himself who made the final decision. Cresswell recalls being impressed by the smoky ambiance and the unique individuals present in the cantina during filming. Although her scenes were removed to focus Han Solo's romantic interest solely on Princess Leia, her time on set left a significant mark on her.
In addition to her work on Star Wars, Jenny also served as a hostess on the popular British game show Sale of the Century, and she made appearances in multiple episodes of the well-known science fiction series Space: 1999. Her involvement with Space: 1999 spanned two years and took place at Pinewood Studios.
More recently, to coincide with the release of the Star Wars saga on Blu-ray, Jenny was interviewed in Star Wars Insider 128. In 2024, she was interviewed on "Tales From The Collection," where she spoke about her career, experiences on set, and what she is doing now.
Currently, Jenny lives a peaceful life in the UK and maintains connections with her fans through conventions and correspondence.
