As a practical joke, the droid data dealer 8t88 had his own head swapped for a JMM droid's head. The head was severed, then consumed by his animal companion, Grendel. Kyle Katarn eventually got it back and extracted the location data for the Valley of the Jedi that was stored in its memory. During this retrieval, he used the droid's head as a weapon against Pic, who was attacking him; the impact sent Pic flying into a wall, resulting in his death.
Following an accident in which he lost his own, Imperial Grand Moff Bertroff Hissa received JMM droid arms as replacements.
