Jodie Marie Comer, born on March 11, 1993, is a British actress. She is known for her role as Rey's mother in the 2019 movie, Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. Perhaps her most notable role is that of the Russian assassin Oksana Astankova / Villanelle in the thriller series Killing Eve, a performance that earned her both a BAFTA Award for Best Actress and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. She also played Marguerite de Carrouges in The Last Duel, a historical drama film where she starred alongside Adam Driver (also in The Rise of Skywalker) and Star Wars alumni Harriet Walter and Alex Lawther. Other significant roles include Chloe Gemell in the comedy-drama My Mad Fat Diary, Ivy Moxam in the 2016 drama miniseries Thirteen, and Elizabeth of York in the 2017 historical miniseries The White Princess.
The actress completed all of her filming for The Rise of Skywalker in a single day, and she had to keep her involvement with the project a secret. Comer enjoyed the experience, even though she had not watched any Star Wars films before being cast. She stated that she was expecting a lot of green-screen and visual effects, so she was surprised to find that much of the environment in her scenes was a real, physical set. She was also surprised that the puppet for Ochi of Bestoon was remote-controlled and had a moving mouth.
