Ochi, known as Ochi of Bestoon, was a Bestoonian male assassin and Sith cultist. Hailing from his homeworld, his career as a Sith Lord's henchman spanned decades, from the end of the Galactic Republic, the subsequent beginning of the Galactic Empire, and into the period of the New Republic. He wielded a personal Sith dagger for his assassinations and had cybernetic implants in his head. Highly trained in combat and martial arts, Ochi was a formidable fighter who served Darth Sidious and Darth Vader, as well as elements of the criminal world. He eventually drew the attention of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, managing to elude him repeatedly, before ending up on Pasaana, where he became ensnared in the Shifting Mires and met his demise.
Ochi, a native of the world Bestoon, joined the Assassin's Guild and rose to the rank of Master Assassin within the organization. He was already active during the Clone Wars era, functioning as both a Jedi hunter and a seeker of Sith arcana. During this time, he would confront Jedi Masters such as Depa Billaba and Mace Windu.
During the Imperial Era, Ochi was associated with advisor Yupe Tashu and worked as an assassin for both the Emperor Darth Sidious and his second-in-command Darth Vader. Ochi also participated in the auction for Han Solo and became an undercover operative for Lady Qi'ra and Crimson Dawn after the Battle of Hoth during the height of the Galactic Civil War.
Following the Sith's defeat, Ochi continued his work into the New Republic era, becoming a follower of the Acolytes of the Beyond and the Sith Eternal cults. He resumed serving the resurrected Darth Sidious, who tasked him with finding his granddaughter, Rey. When Rey's parents refused to reveal her location, Ochi murdered them, solidifying her destiny as the last relative of the deceased Emperor. However, after drunkenly boasting about his recruitment by the Sith Eternal, Ochi was pursued by Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and his ally Lando Calrissian to Pasaana, where he became trapped beneath the desert sands and perished.
Born on the world of Bestoon around 19 BBY, Ochi of Bestoon, a Bestoonian, started as a Jedi killer during the Clone Wars—a galactic conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Alliance. He then transitioned into hunting Sith relics, operating as both a heartless assassin and a devotee of the dark side of the Force throughout his notorious career.
At some stage in his life, Ochi of Bestoon directly served the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious, also known as Sheev Palpatine, as a Sith assassin. Upon Sidious's command, he attempted to kill Depa Billaba on Malathon IX while her former master Mace Windu was away. However, Windu was actually hunting Ochi and fought him off before he could kill the Jedi General with his beskar deadblade. He continued to serve Palpatine during the time of the Galactic Empire following the Clone Wars, after the Separatists and Jedi had been defeated.
Sometime before 3 ABY, Ochi was contracted for an assassination on Akiva. He waited for his target for days, later expressing extreme boredom in a report. The target arrived wearing a red cloak, and Ochi waited for the target's contact, who arrived with guards. Ochi then proceeded to disintegrate the large-headed target, the contact, and the guards, totaling five individuals and a nearby Kowakian.

In 3 ABY, Darth Sidious tasked Ochi with hunting down his injured Sith apprentice Darth Vader on Mustafar as part of Vader's Sith training to strengthen his connection to the dark side of the Force.
Ochi and Vader quickly engaged in a brief duel. Although Vader was forbidden from using the Force by the Emperor, he managed to choke Ochi with his metallic arm. The Sith Lord questioned Ochi about the Emperor and his power, but Ochi refused to answer. Eventually, Vader released Ochi. Unbeknownst to Ochi, Vader was contacted by an ancient creature, which distracted him and allowed Ochi to resume fighting. Ochi jumped to a cave and used his blaster to cause a collapse, but Vader distracted him by making him catch his lightsaber. After catching Vader's lightsaber, Ochi saw Vader enter the Mustafarian cave, commenting that he was easier to kill. Inside the cave, Vader encountered the Eye of Webbish Bog, a large spider-like creature. Sly Moore and four death troopers then approached Ochi. Expressing her doubts that Vader was dead and refusing to contact the Emperor, she told Ochi that Vader was searching for the Emperor's secrets in the cave and demanded to know if Ochi had told Vader anything. Ochi denied this, stating that it would not matter if he had, because no one ever returned from the Eye. Moore argued that Vader was still Vader. Ochi's initial joy at defeating Sidious' apprentice was short-lived as Vader escaped the cave, having received a Sith wayfinder from the Eye. To attack the Sith Lord, Ochi enlisted the help of the Droid Crush Pirates of Bestoon, promising them valuable spare parts from Vader's cybernetics.
Vader successfully fought off the Pirates, but the droid captain managed to sever part of Vader's artificial leg. Upon examination, the droid realized that Vader's suit was made of obsolete and useless parts and turned on Ochi. Vader saved Ochi from the Pirates, quickly incapacitating them and retrieving his lightsaber.
After destroying the Pirates, Vader used their parts to repair an abandoned Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor. Ochi awoke to find himself tied with rope. With Ochi at his mercy, the Sith Lord commanded him to decipher the coordinates hidden in the wayfinder's glyphs. Ochi attempted to trick Vader by entering false coordinates into the starfighter, but Vader noticed the ruse and threatened him until Ochi revealed the wayfinder's true path to Exegol. Satisfied, Vader trapped Ochi in an escape pod, attached it to the starfighter, and jumped through hyperspace to follow the wayfinder's route.

Ochi and the Sith Lord arrived at the Red Honeycomb Zone, where they encountered a massive, tentacled, space-faring creature related to the summa-verminoth, as well as several Star Destroyers. Under fire from hundreds of TIE Fighters, Vader flew the pair into the Zone, where the creature's tentacles destroyed several of the pursuing TIEs. However, their safe passage through the nebula was short-lived, as the psychic creature overwhelmed their minds with visions of their own deaths. They crash-landed on Exegol, where the creature loomed over them. Despite Ochi's urging to flee, Vader stood his ground and used the Force to tame the creature.
As Vader tamed the tentacled creature, Ochi fled downhill to the nearby Sith Citadel, where Darth Sidious was waiting. Ochi witnessed Vader attempt to confront his master using the creature. However, Palpatine effortlessly defeated the creature, using the Force to make it crush itself with its own tentacles until it was torn apart.
After the creature's death, Sidious laughed as he retreated into the Sith Citadel. Ochi followed Vader as he entered the Citadel to pursue his master. Inside, Ochi saw cloning facilities, ancient monuments and effigies of ancient Sith Lords, and legions of Sith cultists and acolytes. As Ochi followed Vader deeper into the Citadel, he watched the Sith Lord defeat both Force-sensitive and non-Force-sensitive attackers.
As he continued to pursue Palpatine, Ochi tried to convince Vader to abandon his quest for vengeance and offered to negotiate a deal with the Emperor if Vader stopped fighting, but Vader ignored him. As they went deeper into the Citadel, Vader and Ochi discovered one of the Emperor's greatest secrets: a massive fleet of Star Destroyers, each similar in design but a thousand times more powerful than the Imperial I-class Star Destroyers currently used by the Empire, and each equipped with a planet-destroying cannon.
Ochi followed Vader as he continued to be drawn further into the Citadel. Following the feeling of suffering and pain, Vader eventually led the pair to what seemed to be the Citadel's heart. Inside a massive chamber was a dome with red light shining from the glass panes near the top. As Vader approached the chamber, Ochi tried to persuade Vader to return with him to broker peace with Sidious. Vader ignored him, and as Ochi followed him into the chamber, they discovered its contents: the peak of a subterranean mountain of kyber crystal. Sith cultists forced the crystal to scream and suffer, believing that this imbued it with more power. Pieces mined from the kyber mountain were used to power the Emperor's machinations and his fleet's planet-destroying weapons.

After the kyber crystal was cut, it screamed out in pain and released a wave of power, throwing back the Sith cultists who worked in the chamber. Ochi was also knocked back, and his helmet was thrown off in the process. The blazing, blood-red light from the kyber crystal burned Ochi's exposed eyes, blinding him. Within the blinding, red light, Palpatine appeared and revealed the unlimited power he had harnessed through the planet's subterranean suffering kyber. Faced with such strength, Vader seemed to realize he could not compete with the Emperor's power, and finally acquiesced to his master.
Once they returned to Coruscant, Ochi received a cybernetic visor implant so he could see again. When Vader asked his master for his will, the Emperor told him to decide for himself. Vader then summoned Ochi, and the Emperor allowed him to leave with the Sith Lord. They traveled to a remote outpost in the Outer Rim and met with a Hutt named Bokku. Ochi asked Bokku about the whereabouts of Han Solo, and Bokku reported that Jabba the Hutt had lost Solo and would recover him. However, Ochi told the Hutt that he would recover Solo himself in exchange for power. When Bokku asked if Ochi served the Emperor, Ochi replied that they both served Vader now.
Vader was then attacked by a group of Gamorrean guards, whom he easily killed. Bokku quickly apologized for not recognizing Vader and reiterated that he didn't know where Solo was. From this, Ochi deduced that Jabba had likely hired someone to find Solo and asked Bokku for their identity. Bokku expressed fear at the idea of betraying Jabba until Ochi probed Bokku's willingness to take over the Grand Hutt Council himself. Bokku then revealed that he had been tracking the hunters who had taken Jabba's bounty and that one crew of droids had gone in a different direction from the others. Bokku told Vader that the droids were deep in Hutt Space and that it would be better to use Bokku's barge to avoid scaring them away.
On their way to the droids' location, Bokku inquired about his compensation for his assistance, and Vader assured him that he would be rewarded. He also asked Ochi if Vader could be trusted, and Ochi replied that there was no safe haven anywhere and that the only way to survive was to find the biggest monster to stand behind. Under the piloting of Bokku's nav droid Gak-Sixtoo, they arrived at Zee-Nine City Seven while Vader and Ochi boarded their Lambda shuttle. As they approached the city, their ship's engines shut down, causing them to crash. After escaping the wreckage, Vader and Ochi were confronted by the Droid Crush Pirates, who expressed shock at Ochi's service to Vader. When Ochi claimed he had picked the winning side, the droid captain Ought-Six told him he had picked wrong as the assassin droid IG-88B revealed himself and fired upon both Ochi and Vader.
As Vader deflected IG-88's attacks, the droid reminded him that he had sustained damages while IG-88 had not. Vader informed the droid that he needed information and commanded him to lay down his weapons, to which IG-88 replied that Vader would only access his information by downloading it from his severed head. Vader went to attack IG-88, but the droid then took out a remote and used it to slice into Vader's armor, taking control of the Sith Lord. As IG-88 forced Vader to hold his own saber to his head, Vader demanded to know who had given the droid the code to breach his armor. IG-88 responded that the terms of his employment prevented him from sharing that information. While the droid was distracted, Vader used the Force to take the remote from him, allowing him to use it against his opponent. Vader then forced IG-88 to hold his own blaster to his head and pull the trigger, incapacitating him.
Vader then continued his fight against the pirates until Bokku's barge fired upon him. Vader blocked the blasts with his lightsaber and redirected the energy at the pirates, knocking them back along with Ochi. As the pirates retreated, Ochi ordered the droid captain to reveal Solo's location. However, the droid captain simply laughed and said he would kill Ochi next time, to which Ochi said he couldn't wait. Vader then took IG-88's hand and used it to access a terminal he had been using earlier. Upon activating the terminal, Vader and Ochi discovered various dead ends that the droid had been chasing, as well as the symbol of crime syndicate Crimson Dawn. After acquiring IG-88's information, Vader returned to Bokku's barge and confronted him over his betrayal. When Vader asked the Hutt what he had learned, Bokku conceded that the Sith could not be defeated, which Ochi noted was a good answer.
Afterwards, Vader sent Ochi to Arkanis to gather more information on Crimson Dawn. Ochi prepared to infiltrate a local bar, but was told by Vader to simply walk through the front door. Ochi then burst into the bar, kicking over one of the patron's drinks and causing them to punch Ochi in the face. But before the patron could attack, Ochi revealed his allegiance to Vader and asked the rest of the bar attendants if they could tell him about Crimson Dawn. Retrieving an invitation sent out by the crime syndicate, Ochi returned to Bokku's lair with Vader and interrogated him about the invitation. Bokku revealed that Crimson Dawn was holding an auction for Han Solo and that Jabba would surely purchase him. However, Vader then told Bokku that he would bid against Jabba and humiliate himself. That way, Jabba would not suspect him of eventually betraying him, to which Bokku agreed. As they took off in their shuttle, Vader suddenly grabbed Ochi and dropped him out of the ship. Once Ochi landed on the ground, Vader ordered him to find out who else Bokku was working with.

Later that evening, Ochi located and engaged with a pair of Crimson Dawn hitmen. One was killed by Ochi, while the other was left alive. However, when Ochi attempted to interrogate the survivor, he was unexpectedly surrounded by numerous masked assassins. After dispatching several of them, Ochi revealed his allegiance to Vader, which only amused the assassins. As Ochi boasted of his and Vader's combined might, one of the assassins picked up a handful of seeds and scattered them, illustrating the sheer number of Crimson Dawn members. The assassin then offered Ochi the chance to join their ranks, but Ochi warned them of his master's imminent arrival. In response, Vader piloted the ship away and landed it on a nearby mountain. The assassin reiterated the offer, but Ochi simply resumed firing, eventually eliminating all the remaining assassins. Vader then approached Ochi, who realized that the Sith already knew about Bokku's collaboration with Crimson Dawn. Vader had merely wanted to test Ochi's loyalty. As more assassins began to encircle them, Ochi reassured Vader that he would continue to serve him as long as he remained the most powerful, to which Vader confirmed that he would always be the most powerful. Hearing this, Ochi laughed and joined Vader in eliminating the remaining assassins.
After learning that Sly Moore had employed IG-88, Vader and Ochi journeyed back to Coruscant to locate her, her court, and the phlutdroid in Administrative Temple Garden 313A. Vader once again defeated IG-88, causing Moore and her court to flee into the Imperial Palace. As they tried to escape into the streets, Vader used the Force to shut the door in their path. However, Moore then produced another remote and used it to temporarily freeze Vader within his own armor, allowing her and her court to open fire on the Sith Lord. This advantage was short-lived, as Vader broke free from the Umbaran's control and eliminated her entire court. Moore attempted to regain control of Vader, but Ochi revealed that Vader had already addressed that vulnerability in his armor. Vader then disarmed Moore by knocking the remote from her grasp and declared that she could not control his will. Moore countered that she only wanted to ascertain whether Vader was still plagued by fear, to which Vader responded that the only fear present was her own. Moore acknowledged that he could easily kill her, but also pointed out that doing so would not protect him from Luke Skywalker. When Vader inquired about her knowledge of Skywalker, she revealed that the key to finding him, his friend Han Solo, was currently being sold by Crimson Dawn. She also suggested that securing Solo for Vader would prevent the Emperor from discovering his plans. When Ochi questioned why Vader should trust Moore, she replied that she would be delighted to reunite Vader with the only individual capable of killing him, an offer Vader accepted, prompting Ochi to laugh.
Soon after, Ochi and Moore, accompanied by several Imperial officers, traveled to Jekara to attend the Auction for Han Solo, which was overseen by Crimson Dawn's leader, Lady Qi'ra. Once the bidding commenced inside the Vermillion, Moore attempted to bid on the smuggler, but quickly found herself competing with Jabba, Bokku, and the other attending Hutts. While the Umbaran was able to use the Force to weaken the minds of the other bidders, she discovered that the Hutts possessed too much willpower to be manipulated. After losing the bid, Moore pulled Ochi aside and questioned why Bokku was bidding against her. Ochi explained that Vader had sent both her and Bokku there solely to humiliate her in the Emperor's eyes and Bokku in Jabba's. Suddenly, the auction was disrupted by the arrival of Vader himself. Escorted by a pair of death troopers, the Sith declared that Solo belonged to him. After defeating Lady Qi'ra, Vader took possession of Solo and contacted Luke Skywalker, demanding that he come to him or else his friend would be killed. However, Skywalker refused and began to flee the planet in his X-wing starfighter. Ochi laughed and assumed that the boy was afraid of Vader, to which Vader replied that he would be. Vader then ordered that Solo be brought aboard the Executor and that his TIE Advanced be prepared.
After Vader departed to pursue Skywalker, Bokku confronted Ochi and pointed out that Vader was supposed to support his bid. Ochi reminded him that Vader had only promised he might get what he deserved. He then overheard Sly Moore contacting Vader and informing him that she was not assisting him. Upon hearing this, Ochi attacked Moore, eliminating her Droid Crush Pirate guards and accusing her of trying to kill Vader. Moore responded by engaging the assassin in combat and reminding him that she served the Emperor. As they fought, Moore explained that Vader feared Skywalker because the Emperor could claim him as his new apprentice, rendering Vader obsolete. She also claimed that Vader could not kill her without betraying the Empire and that both he and Ochi had failed to destroy the Emperor's greatest weapon. Ochi was then incapacitated with a single stab to the chest as Moore instructed him to return to his true master. Just then, their fight was interrupted by the arrival of the Hutt fleet. Ochi contacted Bokku and asked what he was doing, to which Bokku replied that he didn't want to spoil the surprise. Ochi then contacted Vader and informed him that the Hutts were after the Imperial shuttle transporting Solo.
After Vader suppressed the Hutt attack, Ochi brought Moore to the Executor in stuncuffs, accusing her of conspiring to help Skywalker escape, to which Moore reiterated that the Emperor wanted the boy alive. Vader then arrived, prompting Ochi to exclaim that he never doubted him. Moore continued to explain that both Crimson Dawn and Solo had vanished. In response to her motives, Vader informed Moore that Skywalker had fled, indicating that he was not who the Emperor believed he could be. However, Moore countered that he still possessed his freedom and would continue to fight. Vader then used the Force to choke Moore and told her that while Skywalker had hope, it would not be enough. Vader was then contacted by Sidious, causing Vader to release his grip on Moore and kneel before his master. After Vader reaffirmed his loyalty to the Empire, Sidious tasked Vader with rooting out Crimson Dawn spies within the Empire. Ochi then laughed at Moore once more before departing with Vader.

Shortly thereafter, General Hurst Romodi approached Vader and Ochi, presenting them with the troops they would need to eliminate Crimson Dawn. Vader then instructed Ochi to meet with the Assassin's Guild and inform them that they now served him. Subsequently, Ochi traveled to Saki and met with three other Master assassins on the planet. To ensure they were still on good terms, the assassins presented Ochi with a prisoner they had spent considerable time securing: Qi'ra. Surprised, Ochi asked the assassins if anyone else knew about this. They claimed that only they had captured her, and therefore, they should be the only ones rewarded. Ochi agreed before blasting the three of them in the head, killing them. Ochi then deactivated the cage holding Qi'ra and stood at her side, declaring his loyalty to the Dawn by stating that they were a million stronger than one. Afterwards, Ochi rendezvoused with Qi'ra and the rest of her allies on the Vermillion. Qi'ra then revealed Crimson Dawn's ultimate goal, which was to assassinate the Emperor and Vader themselves.
Later, Ochi returned to the Executor to maintain his loyalty to the Empire: as an individual who served whoever was most powerful at any given time, Ochi actively served both the Empire and Crimson Dawn at the same time, making his loyalties unclear. He would later claim to have always been on the side of the Empire, claiming to have joined the Dawn as a double agent, but also worked closely with the syndicate in its plot. Qi'ra believed that Ochi had joined her to try and make the Emperor afraid, thereby making Sidious feel the same as him. Vader deduced that Ochi had joined the Dawn but elected to use that knowledge to his advantage. Aboard the Executor, Ochi encountered the bounty hunter Beilert Valance, who had just been recruited by Vader to lead the newly formed Dark Squadron against Crimson Dawn. Alongside Lieutenant Jyala Haydenn, Ochi tasked Valance and his team with killing Tarl Sokoli, a former Imperial supposedly recruited by Crimson Dawn.
To achieve the mission of eliminating the Sith, Qi'ra assigned Ochi a new target: the Emperor's Royal Guard. Before departing, Ochi inquired of fellow assassin Deathstick about her target, to which she told Ochi to mind his own business. Ochi then departed for Coruscant in Ochi's ship, the Bestoon Legacy, along with an ASN courier droid, which he intended to use to poison the Emperor's Guard. Upon landing on the planet, he met with a salesman named Zlarb, who provided him with a poison known as Ziroxin-12.

This poison was equipped with a precise delivery mechanism, allowing Ochi to set the exact time of his targets' deaths down to the second. Armed with the poison and the droid, Ochi visited the Works and used the droid to administer the poison into the guards' breakfast. Ochi used his binoculars to observe them eating the poisoned food from a distance, only to realize that one of the guards, Major Erstin Deez, was absent. He then tracked down Deez to a landing platform and poisoned him via a dart coated in another poison called Yurfloo, that grazed his neck. With that, Ochi and the droid fled from Coruscant while the Emperor's Guard fell over dead.
Following this, Ochi accompanied Vader to assist the Empire in hunting down Crimson Dawn agents on various planets, including Vincorba and Calior. While on Calior, they fought against the forces of Cygnus Anton, a Chief Regional Auditor of the Galactic Empire who had joined Crimson Dawn, along with a group of freedom fighters known as the Revengers. Ochi remarked that they would serve well as expendable assets, to which Vader reminded him that he was expendable as well.

After finishing on Calior, Vader, Ochi, and the Revengers met up with Valance and several other assassins on Laecor to continue their pursuit. Approaching a squad of stormtroopers and a crowd of civilians, Ochi introduced their group before a stormtrooper explained that the civilians had been attacked by Crimson Dawn. The civilians criticized the stormtroopers for failing to stop the attack, prompting one of the stormtroopers to accuse them of being Jedi sympathizers. The stormtroopers then attempted to move the civilians. When they refused to comply, the stormtroopers opened fire on them. However, Vader intervened, deflecting the blaster bolts and cutting down the stormtroopers. When Ochi expressed confusion, Vader revealed that the stormtroopers were actually serving Crimson Dawn.
When Chilla Zin asked how Vader knew that, Ochi suggested he ask Vader, which Zin declined. Tanka reasoned that they must be Crimson Dawn if they ignored the attack. Ochi questioned the Trandoshan's logic, but nevertheless praised their passion. As their group continued on, Ochi discovered the Dawn's symbol in one of the stormtrooper's holoprojectors, confirming Vader's deduction. When Tanka asked Ochi if he doubted the Sith, Ochi denied this and accused Tanka of doing so, which Tanka denied. Ochi then gave Valance his next assignment: to help them kill every Dawner at their secret base. But for now, the bounty hunter would scout ahead. Valance tugged on Ochi's cape and asked him what the trick was, to which Ochi claimed that everything was as it seemed. As more Dawn agents attacked Valance and the Revengers, Loriach informed Ochi of their numbers and position. When Gee-Ninety asked if it was time to attack, Ochi said no, explaining that the point was to get a lock on their home base. However, Vader then grabbed Ochi with the Force and threw him toward the Revengers, using him as bait as well. As the agents surrounded them, Ochi requested that Vader bomb the stronghold. However, Vader refused and instead mounted Gee-Ninety, balancing himself atop the droid as they rolled themself to the stronghold's front entrance.
Vader then stormed the stronghold along with Ochi, who the Sith stopped from killing all of the agents inside. When Ochi expressed more confusion, Vader explained that Crimson Dawn was just a symptom and that he would destroy the disease. He then discovered a layout of every Dawn agent within the Empire, which Ochi and Valance noted went all the way to the top. Following that, Vader and his followers returned to Coruscant. As they arrived, Ochi tasked Valance, the assassins, and the Revengers with infiltrating the Zanchal Estate while he and Vader went to the Imperial Palace. When Valance questioned if they should trust the list, Ochi told him that the Assassins Guild confirmed at least half the people on the list were Crimson Dawn collaborators. After splitting up from the group, Vader and Ochi entered the Palace and struck down all of the Royal Guards and aides in the Emperor's throne room, except for Sly Moore. Unfazed by this, Sidious pointed out Vader should have kept one of them alive for questioning.
When Vader asked him if they were loyal, Palpatine said they were loyal to strength, which Vader showed them. However, only one of them was Crimson Dawn, meaning that Vader's list was flawed. When Sidious questioned if his apprentice already knew that, Vader hesitated before assuring his master that he would bring him order. Vader and Ochi left for the Zanchal Estate to confront Baron Espis Zanchal for his loyalty to the Dawn. Upon arriving, Vader was thanked by a pair of hostages who the Revengers had rescued from the Baron. As he returned to his shuttle, Vader informed Ochi that the list was a plant, which Vader himself had deduced when Ochi could only confirm that half of the names on it were Crimson Dawn. Vader then told Ochi to find out what connected every other person on the list. That way, they would find out who planted it and why.
Afterwards, Ochi confronted Sly Moore and accused her of planting the list, to which Moore said that Ochi's name would've been on it if that were the case. Just then, they were both stunned by ZED-6-7. The droid was accompanied by Sabé, who told Ochi and Moore to do as she said or else she would inform Vader of their loyalty to Crimson Dawn. As ZED-6-7 confirmed their identities, Ochi attacked Sabé, only for the droid to subdue them again. Sabé went on to explain that she was with Crimson Dawn as well and that the real names on the list were planted to clean out the syndicate. She then asked them what Vader wanted, to which Ochi said that he wanted her due to her affiliation with the Dawn. Sabé said he could inform Vader if he wanted, but she still wanted to know what drove the Sith Lord to do what he did. When Ochi and Moore clarified that Vader wanted power and order, Sabé said they would use him to bring chaos. Later, Ochi returned to the Executor and met with Modi, who was mourning his lost officers, due to them not actually bring affiliated with Crimson Dawn. Romodi then showed Ochi the names of those who were not involved.
Ochi noticed that four of them were involved in the execution of the Amidalans on Naboo. Following this, Ochi met with Vader to inform him of what he'd discovered. Though Romodi's soldiers were not of the Dawn, Ochi warned Vader that Romodi did not understand the Sith and that he would come for Vader someday. With this knowledge, Vader and his assassins prepared to go to Tranchar to capture and interrogate Lieutenant Grapa about the mission on Naboo. Before leaving for Tranchar, Ochi reminded his associates that they needed Grapa alive. When Valance reminded them that he was only there for the child Vader was threatening, Ochi warned that he would have to kill him if he suborned a mutiny. Upon arriving on Tranchar, Ochi informed the assassins of the guards' numbers before they commenced their mission. After they fought their way through many stormtroopers and sentry droids, Grapa was killed by Tanka and Vader realized that the Imperials had known they were coming. When Valance informed Vader that the droids were from Romodi's command, Vader confronted Ochi over having spoken with Romodi prior to their departure. Ochi tried to stammer out an explanation before giving up and running away while Valance fired at him.
After stealing a ship, Ochi escaped from Tranchar and arrived on Naboo to meet with Sabé. But once he stepped out of his ship, it was destroyed by Vader's TIE Advanced. After landing in front of Ochi and meeting him on the ground, Vader commended him for leading him to Sabé, which Ochi went along with and claimed to have been his plan all along. Vader then confronted Sabé herself and took her Crimson Dawn badge from her, claiming that he was the Dawn.
Following this, Vader took Ochi, Sabé and ZED-6-7 to the carcass of a sando aqua monster that Vader had slain. The Sith Lord then threw Ochi and Sabé out of the shuttle and watched as they were attacked by a pack of ravenous creatures. Ochi tried to assure Vader of his loyalty by stating he had been working as a double agent on the Empire's behalf, but Vader cut him off and asked Sabé why she believed in the Dawn. As Sabé defended herself, she stated that she had infiltrated the Dawn for her own means. Ochi fought the creatures alongside her, claiming he had infiltrated the Dawn as well for the sake of the Empire. As the creatures swarmed them and Ochi begged for help, Vader levitated the creatures with the Force and fed them to a group of long-necked beasts as they sprouted from the ground. Ochi claimed to understand Vader's analogy, saying they needed to make their enemies destroy each other. Upon returning to the Executor, Ochi confronted Romodi and blasted his droid.
He then assured Romodi that he was not there to kill him, but to warn him that Vader had gone rogue. He went onto explain that Vader had joined the Dawn and that his crew most likely had as well. When Romodi asked Ochi why he was telling him this, Ochi explained that he served power and that if Romodi ended up coming out on top, he wanted to give him at least one reason to think of him kindly. Later, Ochi had Valance and the assassins travel to Oro Sankeria for their next assignment. Once they arrived, Valance contacted Ochi and asked him what job Vader had for them now. However, Ochi didn't respond and instead watched as the assassins were attacked by a squad of TIE fighters sent by Romodi. When Valance claimed that Ochi had betrayed them, Ochi assured him that they were not the target, but a distraction. Romodi's forces were then attacked by Sabé's Crimson Dawn cell as Ochi arrived in a landspeeder, claiming that, at the moment, his loyalties lied with Vader's assassins. Ensuring the assassins escaped, Ochi watched as the warring Imperial and Dawn forces were wiped out by a pulse bomb before informing the assassins that Vader had used them to get his enemies to eliminate one another.

To Ochi's great disappointment, Vader then departed the planet with Sabé, leaving him and the rest of the assassins to fend for themselves. As Ochi called after Vader, Valance chuckled and informed him that he was no longer Vader's favorite. Ochi then leapt atop a TIE fighter before climbing inside its cockpit. When Tanka asked Ochi what he was doing, Ochi told him he was getting back on the job before Sabé set them up for destruction. Ochi then followed Vader and Sabé to Gabredor III, where they were infiltrating a facility controlled by the planet's governor, who was in league with Crimson Dawn. After entering the facility on a speeder, Ochi found Vader subdued by one of the governor's weapons. Vader and his team were attacked by more droids and Crimson Dawn assassins, to which Ochi joined in the fight and guarded Vader until he had recovered. Vader then Force-choked Ochi for allowing the Governor Tauntaza to escape. When Ochi explained that he was aiding Vader, the Sith Lord asked if he thought the governor's weapon could destroy him. Sabé told him it might have, prompting Vader to release Ochi and leave with Sabé to get information on the technology. Following this, Vader seized Ochi's speeder and used it to go after Tauntaza. As Vader left, Ochi bragged about having been the one to assist Vader, though Sabé cut him off to give him his next assignment. He would assist her with evacuating the conscripts and preparing for the facility to be destroyed before Vader returned.
Ochi told Sabé to call the Gabredor III colony for a transport, to which Sabé said that Vader would have commanded their help if he required their assistance. As she talked with ZED-6-7 and a doctor named Aira about finding how Tauntaza was harvesting the energy for her weapons, Ochi said he would go find them a transport. However, Sabé ordered him to stay and help them stop the governor. As the stormtroopers threatened him, Ochi claimed he could kill them all and accused Sabé of being a rebel sympathizer. To this, ZED-6-7 reminded him that Sabé had been given the title of Lieutenant Commander, meaning that she outranked them. Ochi then begrudgingly went along with Sabé, ZED-6-7, Aira and a local colonist named Kitster Banai to destroy Tauntaza's facility, though they were soon met by an enormous storm. Ochi suggested waiting until the storm ended, but ZED-6-7 explained that the storm was artificial and that the governor was using it to drain the planet of its resources. As the rest of the group discussed going into the storm, Ochi suggested taking cover instead until Sabé silenced him. The group then rode into the storm on speeders and located the facility creating it. Ochi asked Sabé what she could do to stop the storm, to which Sabé admitted she didn't know. As Kitster was pulled off of his speeder and into the storm, Ochi told Sabé they had to escape. Sabé refused however in favor of locating Kitster. When Ochi said it was too late, Sabé was also pulled into the storm, allowing Ochi and the accompanying stormtroopers to leave.
Upon escaping the storm, Ochi saw Vader's shuttle crash into the forest. Ochi regrouped with Vader as he stood next to the wreckage. When Vader asked him about Sabé's whereabouts, Ochi informed him of her fate and suggested calling the Executor for extraction. However, another colonist claimed that the storm would kill them all. When Vader asked the colonist if there were any ships, the colonist said Kitster's racer was the only ship that hadn't been confiscated or destroyed. To this, Vader boarded the racer and sped off into the storm, blowing Ochi away in the process. Using his binoculars, Ochi watched as the Executor opened fire and dissipated the storm. ZED-6-7 found that their comms were no longer being jammed, to which Ochi dared the droid to contact Vader and see how he was doing. Just then, Vader, Sabé and Kitster returned to the colonists. Vader then ordered Piett to fire on Tauntaza's facility. However, the blasts were deflected by a shield, which ZED-6-7 explained was drawing energy from the planet. Ochi doubted the facility had any weakness, but Vader said there was always a weakness, to which Ochi quickly agreed. When ZED-6-7 claimed the facility's underside was unshielded, Vader took Em-Sevenbee with him to the facility as Ochi ran for the forest on Sabé's orders.

When Tauntaza made her escape, Sabé dispatched Ochi to track her down. However, the handmaidens Dormé, Eirtaé, Saché, and Rabé Tonsort captured him instead, taking him to Naboo where they questioned the irritated Ochi about Sabé's location and current situation. The handmaidens were confused about Sabé's choice to align with Vader, but Ochi saw an opportunity to eliminate a rival and proposed an alliance. Simultaneously, Sidious became aware of a rising threat to the Sith, and he and Vader identified it as Crimson Dawn, prompting them to order the Empire to hunt down the Vermilion. Aboard the flagship, Qi'ra greeted Ochi and other allies, informing them that the Sith were now actively pursuing them. She then revealed her plan to unleash chaos across the galaxy by activating her agents within the Empire and other major organizations, declaring this the beginning of her secret empire. Nevertheless, Qi'ra's anti-Sith campaign ultimately failed during the battle at Amaxine Station.
Recognizing their shared objectives, Ochi decided to assist the handmaidens in locating Sabé, whom he considered a competitor for Vader's favor. Amidst the ongoing conflict between the Empire and Crimson Dawn, Sabé was under Vader's orders to assassinate Jul Tambor, the grandson of Techno Union Foreman Wat Tambor, and was actively searching for him. Dormé, disguised as Sabé, infiltrated the Executor with Ochi and began searching for a central terminal. When Dormé questioned Sabé's allegiance to Vader, Ochi explained that Sabé was using Vader to eliminate Imperial officials who had betrayed him. During their conversation, two stormtroopers entered the room. Maintaining her disguise, Dormé inquired if the troopers had discussed Sabé's mission with others. The troopers admitted to openly discussing her assignment. Upon finding a terminal, Ochi accessed information about Sabé's missions and showed Dormé the extent of Sabé's involvement with Vader. At that moment, Admiral Firmus Piett contacted Dormé, informing her that Vader requested her presence. As she departed, Ochi assured her that Vader himself would reveal the truth.
After Vader determined Dormé's true identity, he realized Ochi's scheme to eliminate Sabé. Vader, after throwing Ochi against a wall, informed Dormé that Sabé had willingly joined him. Dormé denied Vader's claim, asserting that Sabé was the best of the handmaidens, so Vader escorted Dormé to a hangar and suggested she embrace the same power as Sabé. Ochi warned Vader that Dormé was untrustworthy, but Vader dismissed him, stating that he only needed her to serve his purpose. Dormé declared that neither she nor Sabé would serve Vader. Vader insisted they would see, and he transported her and Ochi to Fedalle on a shuttle.
The remaining handmaidens soon arrived on the planet and engaged Vader in combat, while Ochi watched from behind cover. After Vader subdued them and offered them a final chance to join him, Saché revealed that Eirtaé had taken codes from his suit during the fight, which would be used to complete Dormé's sabotage of the Executor, much to Ochi's surprise. Before they could destroy the ship, Piett contacted Vader, showing him a transmission from Tambor. The Skakoan revealed he had captured Sabé and demanded Vader come to retrieve her. Ochi suggested the handmaidens surrender and retreat. Knowing they couldn't rescue Sabé without Vader and his forces, the four handmaidens reluctantly agreed to join Vader in pursuing Tambor, much to Ochi's annoyance. Before leaving with Vader, the handmaidens instructed Ochi to prepare a ship for their escape once they turned on Vader and rescued Sabé. Ochi flew overhead as they executed their plan. However, Sabé chose to remain with Vader, breaking away from the handmaidens and forcing them to escape without her. As the handmaidens mourned Sabé's decision, Ochi expressed his frustration at still having to work with Sabé. He dropped them off before begrudgingly returning to Vader's service.

Following the Battle at Amaxine Station and the destruction of the Fermata Cage, Vader began to lose command of his Force powers, which led Sabé to finally abandon his service. In a desperate attempt to regain control, Vader tasked Ochi with locating Chelli Lona Aphra. Ochi found Aphra in a cantina on Sesid, and challenged her to a game of Sabacc, as a distraction while Imperial forces arrived. Aphra realized the trap too late and attempted to escape, but was confronted by Vader. Ochi, sensing her anxiety, tried to calm Aphra, and she reminded Vader of her past services and offered to work for him again. Their discussion was interrupted by bounty hunters, whom they quickly defeated, with Aphra impressed by Vader's raw power. After the hunters were defeated, Ochi explained that Vader could no longer control his abilities. He also learned that the Empire had hired the hunters, leading him to conclude that it was another test from the Emperor. When Aphra asked Vader about her next mission, Vader reminded her that she had left him for dead on Tython, to which Aphra retorted that he was still alive. Vader allowed Aphra to rejoin him, and they followed a map she provided, with Ochi in tow. Ochi questioned the secrecy of the coordinates, and Aphra reminded him that the location was supposed to be hidden.
They eventually arrived at a base on Ringo Vinda, which Aphra identified as the lost headquarters of a Separatist scientist and Kyber expert named Istan Zaly. Approaching an entry hatch, Aphra warned that the base was likely heavily guarded and suggested Ochi enter first. Despite Ochi's protests, Vader threw him down the hatch, where he was immediately attacked by the base's security systems. After Ochi absorbed the initial barrage, Vader and Aphra entered without resistance. As Ochi struggled to remain conscious, Aphra led him and Vader to the Zaly Shield. Aphra explained that the shield was made of Kyberite, a mineral that channels and guides the Force emitted by Kyber crystals. She added that while the Separatists couldn't effectively use the shield against the Jedi, Vader could use it to focus his unstable Force abilities into concentrated attacks. Vader tested the shield on Ochi, blasting him away with a powerful surge of Force energy. As Aphra reassured Vader of her support, they were confronted by an army of droids, including ZED-6-7, Ought-Six, Gee-Ninety, 0-0-0, and BT-1.
Ochi and Aphra joined Vader in fighting the rebuilt droids. During a lull in the battle, Ochi commented on Aphra's constant talking to Vader, to which Aphra responded that she was keeping Vader informed of her location to avoid blame for any mishaps. Suddenly, one of the droids, Arex, reactivated and launched another attack on Vader. However, Vader seized control of the droids and turned them against their comrades. ZED-6-7 disabled Gee-Ninety and declared his loyalty to Vader. Impressed by the betrayal, 0-0-0 and BT-1 followed suit and helped Aphra destroy the remaining droids. After the fighting subsided, Aphra noticed an extra ship. When Ochi questioned her plan to escape Vader, Aphra responded that it depended on Ochi's actions, but Ochi refused to help her. Aphra then offered Ochi to join her, but Ochi stated that the safest place for him was next to the most powerful person in the galaxy. Aphra reminded Ochi of the Emperor, but Ochi claimed that Vader mostly got angry at the Emperor, and that he only showed true fear when Luke Skywalker was mentioned, whom Ochi dismissed as a "chump". Ochi declared that no one could save you from Vader once he had his mark on you, as Aphra left with her droids aboard the ship. Ochi then returned to Vader and reported that Aphra and the droids had escaped. When he asked if they should pursue them, Vader declined, stating that he had what he needed and ordered ZED-6-7 to rebuild and reprogram the destroyed droids to serve him.

At some point, Ochi took possession of the droid D-O from a scholar he had murdered on Primus Cabru. During the era of the New Republic, Ochi collaborated with Yupe Tashu, and they both joined the self-proclaimed Acolytes of the Beyond. Following the Acolytes' downfall, Ochi spent years searching for a wayfinder to reach Exegol to heal his body and restore his eyesight. His frustration led him to mistreat D-O, his droid servant.
While searching for the wayfinder on an Inner Rim moon around 21 ABY, he encountered Sith Eternal acolytes led by Kiza, who connected him with Darth Sidious, resurrected after his death at the hands of his former apprentice during the Battle of Endor. Sidious tasked Ochi with capturing his granddaughter, Rey, in exchange for the path to Exegol. Rey was the daughter of Sidious' Strand-Cast clone "son" Dathan and his wife Miramir. To aid in his mission, Kiza gave Ochi a Sith blade that drained the blood of its victims. Reactivated by the Emperor, Ochi became a Sith loyalist.
To facilitate his hunt for Rey, Ochi hired bounty hunters to pursue Rey and her parents Dathan and Miramir. However, Halo Squadron of the New Republic killed these hunters. Ochi later met Bosvarga and Cerensco, two mercenaries, at Sennifer's Beam and Balance in the Boxer Point Station within the Janx system. He recruited them in exchange for past favors. Lando Calrissian, a New Republic veteran, overheard their conversation, learning about Ochi's connection to the Sith Eternal. Cerensco noticed Calrissian eavesdropping and attacked him, starting a bar fight. To avoid further attention, Ochi and his companions quickly left Boxer Point Station.
Concerned about the Sith's return and believing Ochi could help find his missing daughter Kadara Calrissian, Calrissian alerted his Jedi friend Master Luke Skywalker and astromech droid R2-D2 about Ochi's activities. While aboard the Bestoon Legacy, Bosvarga and Cerensco suggested Ochi enlist associates like Pysarian, Krastan, the Sphox and her crew, Repreever, Stiper, and Plo Mandrill. Instead, Ochi decided to post a bounty on Rey's family.

D-O informed Ochi that he had received an encrypted channel code from Zargo Anaximander, the Regent-captain and administrator of Nightside space station in the Therezar system. On the advice of Dina Dipurl, a New Republic Flight Lieutenant, Rey's parents Dathan and Miramir had sought refuge from Anaximander. Seeking to collect Ochi's bounty, Anaximander betrayed Rey's family to Ochi. After Ochi confirmed their identities via bioscan readings, he told Anaximander to prepare the "captives" for transfer and expect a visit from his associates. Anaximander agreed, seeing it as an opportunity to negotiate their "sale" to the Sith assassin.
Ochi dispatched the Crush Pirates, his droid bounty hunter allies, to pick up Rey and her parents on Nightside. However, the Crush Pirates disobeyed Ochi's orders and attacked Nightside. Nightside's droid security forces wiped out the droid pirates. Calrissian arrived with Skywalker to aid Rey's family. With Calrissian's help, Rey's family escaped Nightside station on Anaximander's stolen yacht Goldstone.
When Ochi arrived at Nightside station, he learned that the Crush Pirates had disobeyed his orders, antagonized Anaximander, and failed to prevent Rey's family from escaping. Anaximander was furious, believing Ochi had allowed his droids to attack the station. Ochi rebuked Anaximander for letting the family escape. When Anaximander demanded payment, Ochi threatened to kill him. To save his life, Anaximander revealed he had installed a tracking device aboard the Goldstone. Under the dark side's influence, Ochi killed Anaximander with his Sith dagger, draining his blood.
After retrieving Anaximander's data card, Ochi returned to the Bestoon Legacy where he reunited with D-O, Bosvarga, Cerensco, and their associates Krastan and Stiper. Shortly after, the droid captain of the Crush Pirates joined them, and Ochi berated him for attacking Nightside against his orders. When the droid captain attempted to kill Ochi, the Sith assassin and his associates destroyed the rogue droid. As retribution for letting the droid aboard his ship, Ochi murdered Striper with his Sith dagger. He warned his remaining associates not to "cross him" on pain of death.

Ochi and his associates left Nightside, continuing their hunt for the fugitive family. A Sith Eternal cultist contacted Ochi, chastising him for failing to capture the family. Ochi convinced the cultist to give him another chance by sending organic soldiers instead of droids. The cultist ordered Ochi to meet an agent known as "Steadfast" on Basta Core, who would provide him with organic reinforcements.
While Bosvarga, Cerensco, and Krastan traveled with bounty hunters to Torrenoteer Minor in a failed attempt to capture Rey's family, Ochi and D-O traveled to Basta Core on Bestoon Legacy. There, they met "Steadfast", who was revealed to be High Colonel Enric Pryde, a member of the First Order. Pryce had been seconded with a contingent of Corporate Sector Authority (CSA) troopers led by Viceprex Coromun, sent to aid Ochi's mission. Ochi requested three platoons of CSA troopers and a starship. Despite Coromun's protests, Pryde agreed to provide Ochi with the reinforcements he needed.
After escaping Ochi's associates on Torrenoteer Minor, Rey's family fled to the Taw Provode Imperial facility. Miramir devised a plan to protect Rey by stealing Ochi's ship Bestoon Legacy and hiding Rey with Unkar Plutt, a junk boss on Jakku. She planned to return for Rey after hiding Ochi's ship. Dathan reluctantly agreed and they used Anaximander's ship to lure Ochi to Taw Provode. Ochi and his Corporate Sector allies took the bait, traveling to Taw Provode. Calrissian and Komat, a former Acolyte of the Beyond redeemed by Skywalker, followed them.
Though Ochi and his CSA allies surrounded the Goldstone, Dathan and Miramir escaped by disguising themselves as Espo officers. To help Rey's family escape aboard the Bestoon Legacy, Komat and Calrissian initiated a gunfight with the CSA troopers. They killed numerous CSA troopers and destroyed the Goldstome and a fuel tank before being captured by Ochi's forces.
Ochi interrogated Calrissian and Komat about Rey's family's whereabouts. Calrissian refused to cooperate and dared Ochi to stab him. Before Ochi could stab him with the Sith dagger, Skywalker arrived and killed the remaining CSA soldiers with his lightsaber. Ochi fought back with his Sith dagger, which was impervious to lightsaber strikes. Though the Jedi Master eventually gained the upper hand, Ochi ignited a fuel tank to escape on the CSA transport.

Ochi eventually located the CSA's command ship Emchen despite a communication blackout. "Steadfast" and Coromun were furious with Ochi for wasting CSA personnel and resources on Taw Provode and initially refused to speak with him. Ochi persisted and demanded more troops and ships to continue his hunt for Rey's family. Pryde rejected his request and threatened to destroy his ship, but then revealed that he had installed a tracking device aboard Ochi's stolen ship. After learning that Bestoon Legacy was on Jakku, Ochi and his associates Bosvarga and Cerensco headed there. Following the meeting, Coromun offered to shoot down Ochi's transport, but the First Order colonel decided to let Ochi "dig his own grave."
Ochi and his associates located the stolen Bestoon Legacy in orbit around Jakku. Dathan and Miramir had hired Unkar Plutt to look after Rey while they hid Ochi's ship offworld. Miramir had also acquired Aki-Aki beads to mislead Plutt into believing they had hidden Rey on Pasaana. Ochi and his associates boarded the Bestoon Legacy and confronted the couple. When the parents refused to reveal Rey's location, Ochi stabbed Dathan to death with the Sith dagger. He then questioned Miramir before stabbing her as well.
After discovering Miramir's Aki-Aki beads, Ochi mistakenly believed they had hidden Rey on Pasaana. By this stage, Ochi's thinking had been clouded by the Sith dagger and the alcohol and engine coolant he drank to cope with it. To cover his trail, Ochi ordered Cerensco and Bosvarga to dump Dathan and Miramir's bodies into a crate with a second tracking beacon. After detaching the CSA transport from Bestoon Legacy, Ochi was driven by the Sith dagger to attack and murder Cerensco and Bosvarga. He then dumped their bodies out of the airlock. When Lando and R2-D2 arrived in the Jakku system to aid Rey's family, they found the abandoned CSA transport, the crate containing Dathan and Miramir's bodies, and the corpses of Ochi's associates. Unaware of Rey's true location, they mistakenly believed Ochi had captured Rey.
Determined to complete his mission and claim the Emperor's reward on Exegol, Ochi traveled on the_ Bestoon Legacy_ to Pasaana's Forbidden Valley. Despite D-O's pleas, Ochi explored the area on his landspeeder. He was haunted by visions of Miramir and Dathan, whom he believed were taunting him. Using his Sith dagger as a guide, Ochi flew his landspeeder over the Shifting Mires. The vehicle's rear repulsorlift broke down, causing it to descend into the quicksand. Ochi struggled but was sucked beneath the Sifting Mires to his death. In his final moments, Ochi realized he had been outsmarted by Rey's parents.

With the help of Nikka, a former Bespin Wing Guard commander, Calrissian discovered Ochi's ship Bestoon Legacy was on Pasaana. Calrissian, Skywalker, and R2-D2 searched the abandoned Bestoon Legacy. Though they found no sign of Ochi aboard the ship and the nearby Sinking Fields, Luke found documents describing a Sith wayfinder and Ochi's seemingly deactivated droid D-O. Since Skywalker was busy training his Jedi Order, Calrissian remained on Pasaana to watch for Ochi and search for his missing daughter.
In 35 ABY, Darth Sidious announced his revived intentions to dominate the galaxy, prompting the Resistance to renew their search for Exegol. On Pasaana, Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and BB-8 found themselves in the same predicament as Ochi, hoping to explore his derelict ship, only to be caught in the sands and sink underground. In the caves, Rey found a landspeeder with a hex charm and Ochi's remains, as well as his Sith dagger, which she learned was the missing key Luke Skywalker had been searching for.
By this time, gouge-beetles had picked Ochi's bones clean. Unlike Ochi, Rey and the others escaped the caves, and Rey sought justice for her parents. After Rey left the others behind on Kef Bir, D-O stated that he missed her. Finn asked the droid his name, but then learned that D-O had a lot of information on Exegol, which was Ochi's intended destination before his death.

As a Sith assassin, Ochi of Bestoon's loyalty was reserved exclusively for the most powerful figures, exemplified by his fealty to both Darth Sidious and Darth Vader. Consequently, during the Crimson Dawn conflict, his true allegiance was ambiguous to those around him, leaving them uncertain whether he sided with the Sith and the Empire or with their adversaries in Crimson Dawn. He himself admitted to "playing a lot of sides." Despite his inclination to serve others, he possessed a significant ego and stubbornness, often rushing headfirst into combat regardless of the odds. Furthermore, he found great amusement in his successes, frequently expressing his delight through laughter. Although he demonstrated considerable prowess as both a combatant and a tracker, Ochi was frequently outmaneuvered and taken by surprise, largely due to his inflated sense of superiority over his opponents. However, even in defeat or overwhelming circumstances, he persisted in his endeavors, driven by his own self-importance.
He once even boasted in a cantina about knowing the whereabouts of the Emperor's wayfinder. After an incident that resulted in his blindness, he developed an obsession with the event and the "beauty" of the kyber crystal involved. Ochi also held a fascination for ancient Sith lore. Despite lacking Force sensitivity, the relic hunter was convinced that the dark side of the Force influenced him and guided his actions, viewing his acts of murder as contributions to a greater, unseen darkness. He also displayed unkindness towards his droid, D-O, whom he neglected and ultimately discarded. Ochi considered standard Imperial caf to be an unpleasant beverage.
Ochi greatly overestimated his capabilities and resourcefulness as a bounty hunter. This overconfidence was exacerbated when the Sith Eternal gifted him a Sith dagger, which enabled Sidious to communicate directly with his mind, resulting in a stressed state that led to alcohol abuse. By undervaluing the fugitives Dathan and Miramir, who concealed their daughter Rey from him by strategically planting misleading clues that suggested she was hiding on Pasaana, Ochi's descent into darkness and alcoholism clouded his judgment, preventing him from discovering Rey's actual location. Ochi was also prone to fits of homicidal rage, leading him to commit murder in response to both real and imagined offenses. Influenced by the Sith dagger, which drained the blood of sentient beings, Ochi was sometimes driven to kill purely by bloodlust.

Despite his arrogance, Ochi possessed significant combat skills. Trained in various martial arts, Ochi exhibited remarkable agility and reflexes, enabling him to confront multiple adversaries simultaneously and even briefly withstand a damaged Darth Vader, damaging his life-support systems and even catching Vader's lightsaber when it was thrown at him. He also displayed proficiency in close-quarters combat, as evidenced by his vibro-knife duel against Sly Moore. The Sith assassin demonstrated exceptional marksmanship, managing to eliminate one Crimson Dawn assassin and wound another with two sniper shots, later using his pistol and A280-CFE rifle to dispatch several more Crimson Dawn assassins. He also eliminated Erstin Deez using a sniper rifle from a considerable distance. In addition to his precision, Ochi was also remarkably fast, having eliminated three master assassins by shooting them all in the head within moments, even though they had their weapons drawn and Ochi's pistol was still holstered.
Towards the end of his life and his career as a hunter, Ochi also carried a Sith dagger used for murder and draining the blood of living creatures. Despite his advanced age, Ochi was able to fight Jedi Master Luke Skywalker on one occasion using his Sith dagger, which was capable of deflecting lightsabers. When facing superior opponents, Ochi would create distractions to facilitate his escape. Furthermore, Ochi was capable of piloting starships.

During his missions, Ochi wore both a helmet and armor to protect him in combat. His armor resembled Imperial officer battle armor, featuring shoulder plates, bicep armor, and a breastplate, but Ochi's armor also included a grey jumpsuit, light brown gloves, boots, a white cape, kneepads, pauldrons, and a utility belt equipped with pouches and a blaster holster. His primary weapons included a blaster pistol and a long spear-pike with a spearblade on one end and a large ax blade on the other. Ochi also carried a small hold-out blaster in one of his pouches. Ochi once possessed a deadblade crafted from beskar, which he attempted to use to assassinate Depa Billaba before Mace Windu disarmed him. Ochi also owned an A280-CFE convertible heavy blaster pistol, which he configured as a rifle, and he could even wield it simultaneously with his blaster pistol during combat. After losing his sight, he received a cybernetic visor implant to restore his vision, which did not impede his ability to fight multiple enemies. During his mission to assassinate the Emperor's Royal Guards, Ochi was assigned an ASN courier droid named ASN-909, equipped with a cloaking device and capable of connecting to his helmet. Ochi also utilized an IQA-11 Blaster Rifle that fired solid projectiles, such as a poison dart, which he used to kill Major Erstin Deez.
The assassin also captained a WTK-85A interstellar transport ship named the Bestoon Legacy, which was abandoned with D-O on Pasaana following the Sith assassin's death there. Additionally, he owned a landspeeder decorated with a hex charm.
Creature performer and puppeteer Liam Cook portrayed Ochi of Bestoon in the 2019 film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, the third film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
Ochi's design was derived from concept art originally created for Boolio. During the filming of the scene depicting Ochi killing Rey's parents, a remote-controlled puppet with a mobile mouth was employed for Ochi, a detail that surprised Jodie Comer, who played Rey's mother.
While Rae Carson's 2020 novel Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: Expanded Edition indicated that Ochi boasted about possessing a clue to the location of the Emperor's wayfinder, claiming to have the coordinates inscribed, which drew Lando Calrissian's attention, Adam Christopher's 2022 novel Shadow of the Sith later retconned this, stating that he was instead referring to how the Sith had re-enlisted him.
