The Works

The Works, situated within the Industrial District of Imperial City on the planet Coruscant, functioned as an industrial sector. This expansive zone, largely deserted, was characterized by its burned-out state. The terrain was predominantly level, cloaked in a haze of gases, smoke, and vapors emanating from the few factories that remained operational.

History

Once celebrated throughout the galaxy as a major manufacturing hub, the Works experienced a decline as businesses relocated due to the escalating costs of operation on Coruscant. This exodus left the once-thriving industrial area in a state of neglect and abandonment. Due to the rampant criminal activity occurring there, most Coruscanti began actively avoiding the location.

The Works prior to the Clone Wars

Not long after the Battle of Naboo concluded, Jedi Master Dooku made his way to the Works to confront Darth Sidious, seeking answers about Sidious's involvement in Qui-Gon Jinn's demise. Sidious reassured Dooku, stating that his actions were vital for the Republic's greater good. Unbeknownst to Dooku, Yaddle had followed him and overheard their exchange. She implored Dooku to return to the Jedi Order, but Dooku, acting on Sidious's orders, engaged her in combat and ultimately killed her.

At the onset of the Clone Wars, Count Dooku arrived at the Coruscant tower situated in the Works. His purpose was to inform his Sith Master, Darth Sidious, that the conflict between the Republic and the Separatists had commenced. The Dark Lord expressed his satisfaction with this development, recognizing it as a step forward in the completion of the Sith's plan.

As the Clone Wars drew to a close, Sidious summoned Dooku back to the Works in response to Yoda's presence on Moraband. Sidious initiated a ritual, utilizing Dooku's blood to tap into their Force-bond and channeling Force lightning into it. This allowed Sidious to summon the power of dark illusion in an attempt to shatter Yoda's resolve.

Within these subsequent illusions, the Jedi Grand Master witnessed a scenario where he, accompanied by Anakin Skywalker and a squad of clones, were en route to the Works with the intention of apprehending the Sith Lords. The underlying aim was to break Yoda's spirit. During the illusion, Sidious fought Yoda, attempting to force him to choose between rescuing Skywalker or killing Sidious. Yoda opted to save Skywalker, sacrificing himself in the process. With this choice, the illusion dissipated, and Sidious and Dooku's attempt to break Yoda ultimately failed.
