Palpatine's broadcast

A communication, disseminating the voice of the deceased Galactic Emperor Palpatine, who was actually the Sith Master Darth Sidious, was transmitted throughout the cosmos during 35 ABY. The message conveyed revenge; no longer attempting to conceal his Sith identity after his revival, the resurrected Darth Sidious proclaimed the era of the Sith was about to begin, and victory was close. At this moment, the galaxy was embroiled in a conflict between the First Order and the Resistance, commanded by Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and General Leia Organa respectively.

Subsequently, Ren embarked on a quest for answers, which resulted in a journey to Mustafar in pursuit of a route to the Emperor to confront this menace and solidify his dominion.

Behind the scenes

The initial appearance of Emperor Palpatine's broadcast occurred in Fortnite X Star Wars, a collaborative event that unfolded within the virtual realm of Fortnite. Subsequently, it was officially referenced within the 2019 motion picture Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, the concluding chapter of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. While also present in Rae Carson's novel adaptation, Carson clarified that the broadcast's concept originated from another source, distinct from both her and the Fortnite developers.
