Assassination of the Emperor's Royal Guard

The elimination of the Emperor's Royal Guard, an event that transpired in 3 ABY, involved the Royal Guard serving Emperor Palpatine being slain by the assassin [Ochi]. This act was orchestrated as part of the scheme by Crimson Dawn's leader, Lady Qi'ra, to bring about the downfall of the Sith. As a consequence of these assassinations, the Sith Lord Darth Vader was dispatched to probe into the circumstances surrounding the demise of the guards. This investigation inadvertently created an opportunity for the Knights of Ren to raid Fortress Vader situated on Mustafar, an event that continued until Vader's intervention.

Lead-Up

Qi'ra unveiled that Crimson Dawn's ultimate objective was the assassination of Emperor Palpatine himself. Subsequently, she designated the Emperor's Royal Guard as Ochi's next target. For this undertaking, Ochi received an ASN courier droid. Upon arriving at Coruscant, he experienced apprehension regarding the task ahead.

Ochi made his way to Zlarb's located at Level 2685, where the proprietor, Zlarb, presented Ochi with a selection of poisons. Following careful consideration, Ochi opted for Ziroxin-12, a poison that could be administered at a precise moment.

Execution

The courier droid prepared for the assassinations

Within The Works district, Ochi primed the poison for the courier droid, which was tasked with contaminating the guards. The plan involved introducing the poison into the guards' breakfast. The droid activated its cloaking device and infiltrated the Royal Guard facility. Utilizing the droid's visual feed, Ochi identified the guards designated for poisoning but noticed one was absent. Through the droid's audio, Ochi learned that one of the guards, Erstin Deez, had skipped breakfast and commenced work early. Consequently, Ochi resolved to personally assassinate Deez.

Ochi killed Erstin Deez with his sniper rifle

Ochi successfully located Deez but found it necessary to employ the yurfloo poison instead to eliminate him. As Deez passed by, Ochi fired a shot from a sniper rifle that grazed his neck, resulting in his death. Subsequently, the courier droid arrived, completing its assigned task as well.

Some time later, the guards prepared for their duties and departed to safeguard the Emperor. Within the Emperor's throne room located in the Imperial Palace, the guards lined the chamber as Palpatine and his Grand Vizier Mas Amedda deliberated on the unfolding events of the Syndicate War. Abruptly, the guards collapsed, much to the astonishment of Amedda and Palpatine.

Repercussions

Following these events, Darth Vader was dispatched to investigate the deaths, a development that one of Qi'ra's contacts relayed to her. With Vader occupied, a heist was executed by the Knights of Ren at Fortress Vader. The Emperor commenced piecing together the various incidents and surmised that an individual was orchestrating a series of diversions with the intent of undermining the Galactic Empire.
