Grand Hutt Council

The Grand Hutt Council, alternatively referred to as the Hutt Grand Council or simply the Hutt Council, functioned as the governing authority of the Hutt species' homeworld of Nal Hutta. This body was comprised of influential clan-families, who collectively directed the powerful crime family known as the Hutt Clan from their hot and swampy planet.

During the period of the Clone Wars, both Jabba the Hutt and Marlo held leadership positions within the Hutt Council. A significant event during this era was the Grand Hutt Council's alliance with Maul and his Shadow Collective, providing assistance to the organization in their takeover of Mandalore.

History

Ziro is brought before the Hutt Council.

Following the Galactic Republic's arrest of the Hutt Ziro for the abduction of his great-nephew Rotta, the Council became concerned that Ziro might disclose the Council's records to the Republic Senate. Consequently, the Hutt Council contracted the bounty hunter Cad Bane to secure Ziro's release and deliver him into their custody. After Bane successful rescue of Ziro, Gardulla and the Council demanded that Ziro turn over the records. Upon Ziro's refusal, he was incarcerated. After Ziro escaped, the Council once again hired Bane to locate both him and the records. Although Bane's mission was unsuccessful, Sy Snootles managed to provide Jabba with the records after she killed Ziro.

When Maul and his Shadow Collective arrived on Nal Hutta, Jabba and the council initially dismissed their proposition to join forces, responding with laughter. However, after Maul's forces defeated a significant number of bounty hunters and Oruba, one of the council members, was killed, Jabba and Gorga conceded to align with Maul, thereby supporting the Shadow Collective's takeover of Mandalore.

Maul threatened the council with suffering if they did not submit to join his collective.

Following the Rebel Alliance's destroyed of the Death Star, Nal Hutta Kal'tamok reported that the Grand Hutt Council released a financial statement on that day that subtly acknowledged the Alliance's triumph at Yavin.

When Qi'ra, the leader of Crimson Dawn, announced an auction on Jekara for the sale of the notorious smuggler and member of the Rebel Alliance, Han Solo, who had been frozen in carbonite and subsequently stolen from the bounty hunter Boba Fett, the Grand Hutt Council, alongside the Empire and other criminal organizations from across the galaxy, participated in the auction. Jabba ultimately acquired Solo; however, before Jabba could claim his prize, Darth Vader disrupted the auction. After defeating Qi'ra, Vader instructed his forces to seize Solo as he departed to confront the rebel Luke Skywalker. Shortly afterward, Bokku incited a battle in Jekara's orbit between the Hutt's forces and the Imperial forces. During this conflict, Darth Vader killed the Grand Hutt Council, subsequently withdrawing from his confrontation with Skywalker upon receiving orders from the Emperor to personally suppress the Hutt insurrection.

After Vader's actions, Jabba became the sole leader of the Hutt Clan, with the Sith Lord also discovering Bokku's affiliation with Crimson Dawn. After Fett reclaimed Solo during the battle, Jabba informed Fett of his new position before paying the bounty hunter for finally delivering Solo to his custody. Jabba's rule continued until his death during the Rescue of Han Solo.
