Gardulla Besadii the Elder, a Hutt from the Besadii family within the Hutt Clan, was a female of her species who lived prior to and during the Clone Wars. Before the Clone Wars transpired, Gardulla held ownership of both Shmi and Anakin Skywalker, but she subsequently lost them to Watto due to a wager.
Gardulla Besadii the Elder, a female Hutt born on Nal Hutta, rose to prominence within the Besadii branch of the Hutt Clan. She became one of the most influential Hutt crime lords on Tatooine. Some years before the Invasion of Naboo, Gardulla acquired Shmi Skywalker and her son Anakin as slaves. However, she later forfeited their ownership in a bet to Watto, a Toydarian junk dealer. Several years later, alongside Jabba, she observed her former slave, Anakin Skywalker, triumph in the Boonta Eve Classic podrace from Jabba's private box.
Following Ziro the Hutt's breakout during the [Clone Wars](/article/clone_wars], Gardulla convened with the Hutt Council at her palace on Nal Hutta. They demanded Ziro surrender the Council's records. When Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Quinlan Vos arrived, Gardulla inquired about the progress of the war and denied any Hutt involvement in Ziro's escape or association with Cad Bane. When Vos accused her and the council of aiding Ziro's escape, Gardulla retorted that Vos was fortunate to have the reasonable Kenobi present, or he would not be permitted to leave alive. Following that encounter, Gardulla and the Council discovered that Ziro had successfully escaped. Subsequently, they contracted Bane to locate Ziro.
