The Vermillion, a ship utilized by the criminal organization Crimson Dawn, functioned as both its Fortress and Flagship. Subsequent to the syndicate's theft of Han Solo, who was encased in carbonite, he was transported to Lady Qi'ra, the leader of Crimson Dawn, aboard the Vermillion. The vessel then touched down on Jekara, situated in the Mid Rim, where Qi'ra intended to present Solo to crime lord Jabba the Hutt as a component of Crimson Dawn's strategy to resurface in the galaxy. Shortly thereafter, the Auction for Han Solo took place on the Vermillion, with Jabba emerging as the victor at the cost of one million credits.
After the capturing of Cadeliah, a young human female and the successor to both the Unbroken Clan and the Mourner's Wail Syndicate,
Some time passed before the crew belonging to T'onga, a bounty hunter, formulated a plan to break into the ship with the intention of rescuing Cadeliah. They then enlisted Dengar, another bounty hunter, to facilitate their entry and exit from the vessel. However, unbeknownst to the crew, Dengar was, in reality, leading them into a carefully laid trap. Upon discovering that Crimson Dawn was actively hunting the Sith, Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine and Darth Vader commanded the full force of the Empire's military might to locate the Vermillion. Upon realizing this, Qi'ra arranged for Cadeliah to depart with Trinia, a Crimson Dawn leader, to ensure her safety. She then welcomed her various allies aboard the Vermillion, revealing that she had instructed her numerous agents scattered throughout the galaxy to initiate widespread chaos as the beginning of what she referred to as her "hidden empire."
The Vermillon transitioned into attack configuration and battled against an Imperial fleet, ultimately being sacrificed by Qi'ra.
