In the year 3 ABY, a confrontation unfolded on Jekara. This showdown took place aboard the Vermillion, the Fortress-Flagship belonging to the criminal organization Crimson Dawn. The participants were Lady Qi'ra, the leader of Crimson Dawn, and Darth Vader, the Sith Lord. The prize they fought over was the carbonite-encased form of Han Solo, the smuggler.
The lightsaber duel commenced following an auction for Solo, hosted by Crimson Dawn on the Vermillion. Jabba Desilijic Tiure and the Hutt Clan emerged as the victors. However, Vader's arrival after the auction's conclusion saw him assert his claim over Solo. Jabba conceded Solo to the Sith Lord. Qi'ra stipulated that while Vader and the Galactic Empire could take Solo, they had to remit the one million credits that Jabba had bid. Vader refused this demand. Qi'ra then taunted Vader, questioning if the Empire lacked the funds or was simply unwilling to pay, prompting Vader to ignite his lightsaber. Qi'ra responded by drawing two swords, and the battle began.
Despite not posing a genuine threat to the Dark Lord of the Sith, Vader found Qi'ra's abilities, along with her knowledge of Teräs Käsi, intriguing. Vader gained the upper hand over Qi'ra. As he prepared to deliver a fatal killing blow, he sensed the presence of his son, Luke Skywalker, on Jekara, which gave Qi'ra an opening to escape. Vader then ordered the transport of Solo's carbonite-frozen body to his flagship, the Executor. He then attempted to eliminate Skywalker, but failed. Hutt forces, commanded by Bokku, then launched an Attack on the Executor to reclaim what they believed belonged to the Hutt Clan. This attack led to the destruction of the Grand Hutt Council and the re-capture of Solo by Boba Fett, the bounty hunter, who subsequently delivered Solo to Jabba on Tatooine.
