A Judicial was an individual belonging to the Judicial Department. Functioning as the main non-Jedi peace officers within the Galactic Republic, the majority of Judicials received training at the Judicial Academy prior to their assignment to the Judicial Forces. As the Clone Wars began, the Republic established the Grand Army of the Republic and the Republic Navy, which then assumed the military duties previously handled by the Judicial Department. A significant number of admirals, generals, and other commanders originated from the Judicial ranks.
Nevertheless, while the majority transferred to the Republic Military, not every Judicial made that change. Even during the height of the Clone Wars, peace officers remained essential for maintaining law and order on Republic-aligned planets. They upheld Republic laws on member worlds and hyperlanes, and because of their training, they were highly competent in handling situations where suspects turned violent.
