The Judicial Plaza existed on the planet Coruscant, which served as the capital of the Galactic Republic. During the Clone Wars era, a conflict between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Judicial Department of the Republic was based within the Judicial Arcology. This enormous structure stood prominently within the plaza.
The Judicial Plaza's initial mention within the new Star Wars canon took place in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 addition to Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars Roleplaying game series. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Judicial Plaza was originally presented within Coruscant and the Core Worlds. This sourcebook was created by Wizards of the Coast for their Star Wars Roleplaying Game, and was released on January 3, 2003. The location then fully debuted in The New Jedi Order: The Unifying Force, a novel written by James Luceno. This book was the nineteenth and concluding entry in the Star Wars: The New Jedi Order novel series, and it saw publication on November 4, 2003.
