A Representative, sometimes referred to as a Junior Representative, held a position within the Galactic Senate of the Republic. Unlike Senators, who advocated for an entire world or sector, representatives were designated to represent the concerns of a smaller group or political faction within that world. Even though only senators possessed the authority to vote or propose laws in the Senate, a representative from the senator's respective world or sector had the power to carry out those responsibilities on the senator's behalf if the senator was absent or unable to fulfill their duties. As an example, Jar Jar Binks functioned as a representative for the Gungan people, mentored by Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo.
