The Justice Council functioned as the judicial body within the New Republic Senate, handling all legal issues. In addition to this, the council held the responsibility of confirming appointments to the Court of Justice that were put forward by the Chief of State. Furthermore, it adjudicated legal accusations leveled against Senators. The leader of the Justice Council held a seat on the Ruling Council, and simultaneously served as the Minister of Justice.
Borsk Fey'lya held the position of Chair of the Justice Council during events such as the Yevethan Purge and the Caamas Document Crisis. Following Fey'lya's election to the Chief of State position, Ta'laam Ranth succeeded him as the Chair of the Justice Council.
