Jyn Erso's theme, crafted by Michael Giacchino, serves as a key musical element in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the 2016 anthology movie. This theme, which is representative of Jyn Erso, incorporates the dies irae motif. Although Giacchino prominently used the leitmotif technique within the Rogue One score, it's important to note that the musical figure constituting the motif was initially composed by John Williams. The London Symphony Orchestra originally performed it for the 1977 film, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
The musical figure is heard in A New Hope at Obi-Wan Kenobi's home, after the Jedi Master informs Luke Skywalker that he was becoming "getting too old" to combat the Galactic Empire. The theme for Jyn Erso appears repeatedly throughout the Rogue One score and is particularly prominent in the Jyn Erso & Hope Suite.
