K'kur

K'kur, a Twi'lek of the male persuasion, was a Jedi Knight who pledged allegiance to the Jedi Order in the twilight years of the Galactic Republic. As the Clone Wars ignited between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, K'kur opted to stay at the Almas Academy instead of reporting to the Jedi High Council; there, he met his end at the hands of raiders led by Phylus Mon.

Biography

Unlike the majority of Jedi during that time, after Jedi Order recruiters from the Acquisition Division discovered his Force-sensitive nature, K'kur received his training at the Almas Academy situated within the Cularin system. After successfully completing his Trials of Knighthood, K'kur progressed to become a highly esteemed Jedi Knight, celebrated for his mastery of the lightsaber and his bravery on the battlefield. Consequently, it came as a surprise to many when K'kur declined the Jedi High Council's summons to take up arms at the commencement of the Clone Wars. By exercising his Right of Denial to abstain from joining the Grand Army of the Republic, K'kur chose to remain on Almas, answering only to the Academy's Council of Masters.

While other Jedi perished across the galaxy during the first year of the conflict, K'kur was tasked with safeguarding the ancient fortress that once belonged to the long-deceased Sith Lord known as Darth Rivan. The Almas Jedi had taken possession of the fortress, which had been abandoned for a long time, but it had not been fully explored and needed protection from attacks by the dark-side group called the Believers. K'kur, accompanied by five fellow Knights, was positioned at the fortress's southern entrance as a team of fourteen Jedi Researchers explored the interior. A sandstorm then descended upon the area, enveloping the fortress. Under the cover of the sandstorm, Phylus Mon, a Dark Side Adept, attacked the fortress with his followers and a Force-sensitive wampa. K'kur and the other guards were overwhelmed and killed, leaving the fortress vulnerable to the dark siders. The raiders then entered the fortress and performed a Sith ritual lasting several hours before departing.

Unaware of the ritual that had occurred, the researchers informed the Almas Council about the mysterious deaths of the guards, which prompted Master Lanius Qel-Bertuk to organize three separate search parties to investigate the fortress and identify those responsible.
