Kaeline Ungasan, a Human male hailing from the Corporate Sector, held multiple roles: he was a podracing producer and an aspiring crime lord. Notably, he challenged the Hutt dominance over Ando Prime. Throughout his endeavors, he engaged the services of Benkudi, Ree, and Rikal Stargunner.
Ungasan, Kaeline, functioned as a mid-tier operative for the Corporate Sector Authority. He had previous dealings with the Hutts, though they remained ignorant of his connection to the CSA. Aspiring to be a crime lord, he engaged in various unlawful activities, which the CSA chose to overlook. During this period, Ungasan began collaborating with Benkudi, a Dug crime broker who also interacted with the Hutts.
The CSA had repeatedly failed in their attempts to seize financial control of Ando Prime from the Hutts. Consequently, they tasked Ungasan with this objective. Ungasan accepted, viewing it as an opportunity to transition into a full-time gangster and extract profits from the Desilijic Hutt clan.
The Hutts maintained control over the podracing industry on Ando Prime through the Ando Overland, a podrace track owned by the Desilijics. In response, Ungasan established his own alternative course: the Ungasan Cross Country. He recruited Ree, a pilot and disgruntled former Hutt employee, to serve as his primary scout for race locations.
During scouting missions, Ree inadvertently discovered traces of Vonium, a valuable mineral. Ungasan decided to illegally mine the deposits, intending to use the proceeds to finance his criminal empire. Ungasan and Ree modified podracing equipment with scanning devices, selling it to pilots at reduced prices. After races, Ree's team would recover the equipment from the wreckage of crashed podracers. Ungasan promoted the race by claiming that the course changed each time, offering racers and spectators new and exciting challenges. In reality, the course was selected to maximize the likelihood of encountering Vonium veins. This strategy also helped avoid Hutt retaliation, as they were unable to pinpoint specific locations to sabotage the Cross Country. Ando Prime's sparse population made attacking permanent posts impractical, and bets were placed via the HoloNet. Local authorities were bribed with surplus luxury goods from the CSA.
Ree cautioned Ungasan about his former associate, Benkudi, suspecting that Benkudi might sell information about Ungasan to the Hutts. Ungasan dispatched CSA contractors to intimidate Benkudi, warning him against discussing Ando Prime.
However, the Hutts were already displeased with Ungasan and had uncovered Ree's involvement in the Ungasan Cross Country. They dispatched an assault team of Gamorreans, led by Human bounty hunter Davon Gitta, to capture Ree alive for interrogation, hoping to locate the well-hidden Ungasan. Due to the difficulty in finding Ree, the Hutts hired unsuspecting independent agents who believed they were searching for a runaway child. These agents unknowingly carried tracking devices, allowing Gitta to follow them.
Unaware of these developments, Ungasan traveled to Ando Prime with his bodyguard, Rikal Stargunner. They met with Geon Justic, the head of the mining union in Elesa. Justic informed them that Ree intended to survey the Juaka Canyon. Ungasan decided to meet him there. Unbeknownst to Ungasan, the CSA had begun to question his loyalty and sent their own agents to monitor his movements.
Ree's four-member survey team came under attack by the Talids, indigenous people who claimed the podracer ruins. The Hutts' independent agents were also present. It is believed that Gitta's team and the CSA faction joined the conflict shortly afterward.
In 27 BBY, Ungasan's illicit activities and his use of the Cross Country as a cover were exposed, presumably leading to their cessation. This event marked one of the initial controversies in podracing, ultimately contributing to the sport's criminalization.
During the Galactic Civil War in 1 ABY, Ungasan found himself in the city of Mos Espa on Tatooine. There, he resolved to establish himself as a new power in the planet's "less-regulated" industries. To achieve this, he needed to forge new connections. He also viewed Jabba Desilijic Tiure as the primary impediment to his success. Fortunately, he encountered a spacer willing to assist him. Ungasan entrusted the spacer with a datadisc to be delivered to Triddle "Flip" Flipinigan.
The datadisc contained Ungasan's proposal to ally with Jabba's rival, Lady Valarian. The spacer successfully delivered the disc to Flipinigan and received a creditary reward from Ungasan. However, Ungasan had further tasks for the spacer. To establish his reputation and acquire a list of Jabba's employees, Ungasan tasked the spacer with assassinating Sil Onda'tek, one of Jabba's trusted enforcers. The spacer agreed and carried out the assassination. The thug possessed a datadisc containing a roster of security personnel employed by Jabba.
However, Ungasan soon received information that an assassin was en route to eliminate Valarian. Recognizing an opportunity to garner more support, Ungasan tasked the spacer with killing the assassin, a male named Iza Paatzee. As the spacer approached Paatzee, Paatzee claimed that Ungasan had set him up and opened fire on the spacer. Nevertheless, the spacer managed to kill the supposed assassin, who was likely a pawn in Ungasan's scheme.
Ungasan expressed satisfaction with the spacer's success and suggested that the spacer seek further employment with Lady Valarian in Mos Eisley.
Within the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies, Kaeline Ungasan appears as a Non-Player Character (NPC) in Mos Espa. Players interacting with Ungasan can undertake three quests centered around aiding Ungasan in launching his criminal enterprise on Tatooine.
