Aloysius Kallig, a Sith Lord who lived at the same time as Tulak Hord, wielded a lightsaber. Following the death of this Sith Lord, the Escalus family was given the responsibility of safeguarding the lightsaber. They were tasked with holding onto it until an heir of Aloysius Kallig appeared to reclaim it.
During the era of the Cold War, the future Darth Nox, also known as the Sith Inquisitor Kallig, journeyed to Nar Shaddaa to take possession of their rightful inheritance. Mila Escalus, the final member of the Escalus family, usually safeguarded their ancestor's lightsaber, but it had been taken by the criminal Gyl Rosen. The new Lord Kallig then fought Rosen and recovered the lightsaber. Kallig then used this weapon to face Darth Zash during their final showdown.
