The Kamgeddon system existed within the Harron sector. This sector is located in the Slice region, which itself is within the Expansion Region. Its position was along the hyperlane called the Ootmian Pabol. This route provided a connection to both the Belasco system, which is part of the Belasco sector, and the Prindaar system situated in the Inner Rim.
During the Pius Dea Era, a time period spanning from roughly 12,000 BBY to 11,000 BBY, the Kamgeddon system belonged to the Galactic Republic. It shared its designation with the Glory of Kamgeddon, a cathedral ship used by the Republic's Pius Dea religious order.
The reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare, which was released in 2012 and written by Jason Fry together with Paul R. Urquhart, was the first source to mention the Kamgeddon system. Subsequently, the Online Companion for The Essential Atlas (2009), found on StarWars.com, identified its location as grid square O-12.
