Karid Blakken was a male politician from the world of Cularin, a planet active during the final years of the Galactic Republic. For some time, he presided over the Hedrett Council, which served as the ruling body of the city of Hedrett. However, in 33 BBY, he unexpectedly lost his position on the council to Westa Impeveri, a former criminal. Later, during the Clone Wars, Blakken took part in a debate focusing on Cularin's platform cities—cities built high above the ground within the planet's jungles.

During the last years of the Galactic Republic, Karid Blakken, a male being, resided on the planet of Cularin. Having been elected as one of nine senior counselors to the Hedrett Council, the governing body of the city of Hedrett, he eventually rose to become its leader. In 33 BBY, Blakken faced a reelection challenge from Westa Impeveri, a former criminal who was also a junior counselor on the Hedrett Council. Although Blakken was widely considered the favorite to win, Impeveri secretly hired individuals to promote himself and enhance his public image. As a result, Impeveri surprisingly won the election, replacing Blakken as the council's leader, much to Blakken's dismay. Blakken suspected foul play and demanded a recount, but the subsequent investigation cleared Impeveri, upholding the election results.
By the time of the Clone Wars, Impeveri remained in control of the Hedrett Council. Nevertheless, Blakken still had supporters on Cularin. Around 21 BBY, Blakken participated in a panel discussion—moderated by reporter Yara Grugara—addressing the pros and cons of Cularin's platform cities, elevated settlements situated within the planet's jungles. During the debate, Blakken voiced his opinion that the platform cities should be abandoned, leading to a heated exchange with Brug D'Shar, a Sakiyan and aide-de-camp to Westa Impeveri. After D'Shar questioned Blakken's political experience, the former senior consular accused the Sakiyan of rigging the election that brought Impeveri to power through fraudulent means.
Blakken was a well-liked leader during his time on the Hedrett Council. He was taken aback by his loss to Westa Impeveri, and even after an investigation into the election's legitimacy, Blakken continued to assert that Impeveri's victory was achieved through fraud. Blakken believed that Cularin's platform cities were detrimental to the planet, causing damage to its jungles and straining its economy, so he advocated for their abandonment. During the debate on the benefits of the planet's platform cities, Blakken was quick to anger when Brug D'Shar questioned his understanding of Cularin politics, and he was not hesitant to insult his rival.
The Living Force Campaign Guide, a sourcebook by Robert Wiese published by Wizards of the Coast in 2001, first mentioned Karid Blakken. This sourcebook served as the setting for the Living Force roleplaying campaign. He later appeared in Political Platforms, a short story by Morrie Mullins that was published on Wizards.com in 2004 as a promotional tie-in for the campaign.
