Karinda
Karinda, situated within the Wazta sector, was a parched and dusty planet located in the Outer Rim Territories. During the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire maintained a minor garrison on this world, while the Rebel Alliance also established a clandestine listening outpost. The Rebel light freighter known as the Arion Star once delivered provisions to the outpost; the starship's crew then endured a difficult landing on Karinda, followed by pursuit from an Imperial force stationed at the garrison.
Description
This terrestrial planet, Karinda, was part of the Karinda system within the Wazta sector of the Outer Rim Territories. A starship with a Class 1 hyperdrive could reach it from Greyman's Planet in the Soarin system in two days' time. From space, Karinda was primarily red-brown, an arid world, but it also possessed some small lakes and seas. The surface was characterized by canyons and a dusty soil, devoid of vegetation.
History

Amidst the Galactic Civil War fought between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance, the Empire had a garrison stationed on Karinda. The Alliance was also in the process of constructing a listening post, named the Karinda Outpost, intending to intercept Imperial communications from the Outer Rim. Sometime between 0 ABY and 3 ABY, the Alliance devised a mission to transport supplies from Da'Harrin Spaceport on Greyman's Planet to this Karinda Outpost. At the Alliance base located on Tancon, a planet in the Koradin sector, the navigation computer of the light freighter named Arion Star was loaded with the coordinates for Karinda. Subsequently, the base's commander briefed a team of agents regarding the details of the mission.
After the Rebel team managed to obtain the supplies from Greyman's Planet—engaging an Imperial patrol in combat during the process—they journeyed to Karinda. As the Arion Star started its descent toward the Karinda Outpost, the guidance system control board experienced a malfunction, forcing the freighter to make a hard landing in a valley approximately one hour's travel from their intended destination.

Because the Rebels were unsure of the precise location of the outpost, they waited for the arrival of an Ultra-Light Assault Vehicle speeder and a repulsorlift skiff to transport them to the facility. After loading the supplies onto the skiff, they were discovered in the valley by scout troopers from the Imperial garrison riding speeder bikes. The Empire had been alerted to their arrival, having tracked them from Greyman's Planet. A chase ensued through the valley and a connecting canyon, with an Imperial hoverscout joining the pursuit later on. In the end, the Rebel team overcame the Imperial force and successfully delivered the supplies to the Karinda Outpost.
Locations
Karinda hosted a small Galactic Empire garrison, the size of which was due to the planet's remote location in the Outer Rim, making it of little importance to the Empire. The Rebel Alliance Karinda Outpost was built inside a large cave that was situated at the end of a canyon that began near a large rocky hill. A small rocky valley, connected to a large, open, dusty plain by a narrow canyon, was located an hour away from the outpost when traveling by speeder.
Behind the scenes
Karinda was featured in the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game adventure "Milk Run," authored by Sterling Hershey and presented by the RPGA Network at the 1991 Gen Con gaming convention. The reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, situated the Karinda system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square J-18.
