The author of multiple short stories and novels set in the Star Wars universe is Kathy Tyers. She came into this world in Long Beach, California on July 21, 1952. Aside from her contributions to the Star Wars universe, she's also the mind behind various other science fiction novels, along with some works outside of the science fiction genre. Together with her husband Mark, who passed away in 2004, she created two folk music albums. She is currently a resident of Montana.
Tyers obtained a degree in microbiology from Montana State University and, after her marriage to Mark, earned certification to instruct students in grades K-12. She began teaching the younger students when her church established a private school. She left her teaching career in 1979 to dedicate herself to raising a family; their son Matthew was born in 1981, and two years later, she seriously pursued writing.
