Katie Johnson

Katie Johnson was the offspring of Albin Johnson, who established the 501st Legion costuming organization. Upon Katie's diagnosis with terminal cancer, Albin and the R2-D2 Builders Club collaborated to construct a pink astromech droid called R2-KT, which stayed near her as she rested. R2-KT has continued its mission of visiting hospitalized children and promoting awareness for childhood diseases since Katie's passing. As an homage to Katie, the droid was integrated into the Star Wars canon by the producers. Andrew Griffith's story, "Tales of Villainy: Give & Take," found within the twelfth issue of the 2020 Star Wars Adventures comic book series, was presented in Johnson's memory.
