501stLogo The emblem representing the 501st Legion. The 501st Legion, also recognized as Vader's Fist, represents a global community of Star Wars enthusiasts. Albin Johnson and Tom Crews established it back in 1997. This organization is the foremost Imperial costuming group worldwide, with representation across the United States and in 59 other nations. You'll often see the 501st making appearances at promotional events tied to the Star Wars universe. Furthermore, they generously dedicate their public image to supporting various charitable causes throughout the year, such as Toys for Tots, MDA Telethons, and visits to local children's hospitals.

Historical Background

The fan-based group was initially honored through its inclusion in the Expanded Universe by the author Timothy Zahn. This occurred in his book titled Survivor's Quest and the digital book Fool's Bargain, both launched simultaneously on February 3, 2004. This recognition was amplified by Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith in 2005. In the film, the company of blue clone troopers led by Darth Vader into the Jedi Temple during Operation: Knightfall is identified as the 501st in associated promotional materials. The Legion later had significant roles in both The Clone Wars movie and the subsequent TV series.

In the 2015 cinematic release, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, an adaptation of the 501st emblem is displayed on a flag within Takodana Castle.

For the live-action series titled The Mandalorian, members who belong to the 501st were invited to participate, because the production team lacked an adequate supply of stormtrooper armor.
