Keek, a Brigian of the male persuasion, held the position of Chief within the Internal Security Police for the New Regime on the planet of Brigia. He was often observed adorned with numerous medals, acquired from offworld sources, displayed prominently on his chest. In 2 BBY, Keek spearheaded an operation aimed at preventing the University of Rudrig from establishing a branch campus on Brigia, an action deemed a violation of the New Regime's prohibition against foreign literary works and educational resources. Keek and his team intercepted a consignment of provisions en route to the site of the proposed college, which was being transported by a Corellian smuggler by the name of Han Solo, who had been contracted for the delivery by a university representative named Hissal.
Despite Keek's attempts to persuade Solo to surrender Hissal without conflict, Solo declined, instead issuing a threat to utilize the university's costly duplicator to initiate an inflationary event that would negatively impact the New Regime's developing financial system. This confrontation reached its peak during a chaotic gun fight onboard Solo's vessel, the Millennium Falcon, ultimately concluding with Solo employing Keek's personal blaster to render the Brigian unconscious. Solo let Keek go unharmed, but only after permitting Hissal to broadcast anti-New Regime propaganda throughout Brigia using the ship's communication systems, which contributed to the government's instability.
The character of Keek made his debut appearance in Han Solo and the Lost Legacy, a novel authored by Brian Daley and published in 1980.
