Keres II, situated within the Empress Teta system in the Deep Core's Koros sector, was a planet characterized by its icy surface, rendering it a frozen world. This celestial body orbited the star known as [Koros], yet it lacked any moons. A notable feature of the planet was the presence of substantial carbonite deposits, leading to the establishment of a mining outpost for their extraction. However, the miners stationed at this outpost abruptly abandoned their operations on the planet around 3643 BBY, without providing any explanation for their departure.
In 3643 BBY, amidst the ongoing Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire, an individual working for one of the warring factions dispatched a companion to this location. This companion ventured deep into the mines, where they encountered a terentatek that had been released from its icy confinement. Ultimately, the companion managed to leave the planet, carrying with them a quantity of carbonite and various ores.
The first mention of Keres II occurred in Byss and the Deep Core, the second in a series of supplemental materials created by Rodney Thompson for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. These materials were published on Wizards.com on April 14, 2005. Later, in 2009, the reference book The Essential Atlas specified the location of the Empress Teta system, and consequently Keres II, as being within grid square L-8.
